Oaxaca love song # 2 begins with Chef speaking DIsha Welab / Zapotec from Santo Domingo Albarradas . Our Zapotec language is a powerful tool of resistance. Especially during the Hispanic heritage month, a dangerous label that has been imposed on us, as deadly as the Latinx. It is important to tell the world that we exist as indigenous peoples, and we continue to speak our indigenous languages. The world needs to know that not everyone in Latin American speaks Spanish, and in Mexico Alone, there are 364 indigenous besides Spanish. The assumption that everyone speaks Spanish has deadly consequences in our lives as indigenous communities, I love the intentionality behind Oaxaca love song #2.
