This is probably the first time since the podcast started that I have watched a horror movie with my wife. While watching, it seems that we have two very different reactions. My wife reacts very normally to horror movies.

Whereas me on the other hand, find horror movies funny. Apart from jump scares, I laugh throughout horror scenes and don't even come close to losing any sleep at night. How many of you are like me or knows someone like me? I'm the person you take to a haunted horror house and I'll be speaking and chatting to the NPCs, without getting freaked out much.

Hope we can start a group, a community of people that are not afraid of horror movies. We should go catch any amazing horror movies in the future once lockdowns are over.

Clubhouse - Buying into Hype & Exclusivity

With everyone staying at home during the pandemic, the Clubhouse App was able to rise to millions of active participants in the span of 1 year. Being able to connect and communicate with peers and celebrities on various topics, Clubhouse's concept is attractive and simple when put on paper.

As time goes on, people are able to create their own rooms and content, but what is lacking is sufficient moderation on topics discussed, it allows for participants to continue encouraging each other in an echo chamber. Imagine creating a room to discuss on Flat Earth. Or just a room of imitation Pikachus that can only make sounds of PIKA PIKA. Completely ridiculous.

It also works like an MLM. Getting people to spread the word. Making it seem exclusive with content, however with only voice recordings allowed at a timely manner, audiences are either in the right room at the right time to get quality content or they are just wasting their time in general.

My Gaming History and Thoughts on Benefits of Gaming

Over the last few decades, gaming has increasingly become one of our standard activities growing up. Kids today are exposed to a wide variety of games from multiple consoles and phones. With different levels of complexity, I dive through my personal gaming experience as a child, how I went through gaming console phases in my life (Computer, Playstation 1, Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch).

The games I have played have taught me many lessons that I cannot learn from anywhere else. The broader range of games I play, the more life lessons they each taught me, the harder it was to sell or let go of the games that I grew up with.

Marshmallow Experiment and how they use this to judge kids

Have you ever heard of the Marshmallow Experiment? Imagine someone giving you candy or in this case, a marshmallow. However the condition is, if you take it now, you only get 1 marshmallow. But if you wait, you will receive 2 marshmallows. Researchers concluded that kids that have been able to patiently wait for 2 marshmallows tend to do better in life.

This isn't entirely accurate however. There are many factors not considered for this 1970 study. If a starving African child has 30 minutes left to live, can he wait 1 hour to receive 2 marshmallows to eat? The Burden and Responsibility of Teaching

As school starts reopening, COVID is still nowhere near disappearing yet. A lot of classes will still have to be held online, and students taking government exams (SPM and STPM) no longer have much of a Chinese New Year to celebrate. But the teachers will be having an equally hard time, with an all time low salary and job security, their jobs are at threat ever since the rise of the Internet. There is a huge effort/task required by teachers to stay relevant in today's standards. Information can be obtain in mere seconds online while educational syllabus takes months or even years for approval.

Social Media has further skewed the importance of education amongst millennials. As they start pursuing their own success (defined by amount of money), advanced/tertiary education has sunk further down a rabbit hole.

Do you think teachers will still play a relevant role? Has COVID shown us that we are ready to move education entirely to the Internet? Do you think teachers will continue getting downplayed in the future?

Welcoming 2021 and Learning from 2020 ft Wife

Join us on this week podcast as I invite my wife to the podcast to talk about the year 2020. We both have some different perspectives and how it has impacted us mentally and physically. We are happy to share on our own summary of 2020. By sharing on the important lessons we learnt in 2020, we learnt that the pandemic has brought us closer. We survived the tough times and ended the year on a more hopeful note. While we were at it, might as well talk about new year resolutions. Do we believe in it? To a certain extent. We still have to make plans for the year 2021, although I secretly completed some of my own.
