In order to cater to the growing demand for luxury apartments in Bangladesh, building technology and ideas (bti) ltd is developing spacious housing solutions with high-end features in Dhaka's Gulshan.

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) is considering setting up beneficiary owner (BO) accounts for those who have mobile financial services (MFS) accounts without conventional bank accounts so they can invest in the stock exchange.

This is being done to increase both new investments and investors in the country's capital market.

Even those who have no regular bank account needed to open a stock market BO account, mandatory for share trading, would be able to invest in the stock market, said Tarique Amin Bhuiyan, managing director of DSE.

Meta has announced that it is rolling out End-to-End Encryption (E2EE) for group chats and calls on Facebook Messenger. This is an important security feature, which was previously available for only a limited set of users. It will now be released to everyone who is using Messenger. However, it is not enabled by default and one can choose to turn on E2EE for their private chats.

Google will invest as much as $1 billion in the Indian telecom operator Airtel, the latest in a series of bets the search giant has made in the world’s second largest internet market as part of a $10 billion commitment to the country.

Google said it will invest $700 million to acquire a 1.28% stake in Airtel, the second largest telecom operator in India with over 300 million subscribers, and pour in up to $300 million more to explore multi-year commercial agreements with the telco.

The two firms will work to expand Airtel’s offerings to cover a wide-range of Android-enabled devices to consumers via “innovative affordability programs,” they said. Google and Airtel will also explore partnerships with smartphone makers to make more affordable smartphones, they said.

A remote hospital in an area of Bangladesh vulnerable to rising sea levels has been named the world's best new building.

The Friendship Hospital in Satkhira, a cyclone-prone district in the country's south, was announced winner of 2021's prestigious RIBA International Prize on Tuesday, with its architects praised for putting "care and humanity at the heart of its design."

Constructed from locally-made bricks, the 80-bed hospital was built around a series of courtyards lined with tranquil, shaded walkways. An angular canal cuts through the center of the site to separate inpatient and outpatient wings.

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), which organizes the award, commended the hospital's design for blending in with the surrounding countryside and creating an "uplifting and inviting experience for visitors, patients and healthcare professionals."

Government of India is planning to have an operating system for handsets that is completely made in India. The indigenous operating system will serve as an alternative to Google's Android and Apple's iOS, the two dominant forces in otherwise largely unexplored space. The government may also turn to the academic and start-up ecosystem of India for the same.
