The King Arthur statue is the work of Welsh sculptor Rubin Eynon. Cast in solid bronze it took over six months to design, sculpt and cast the sculpture. The sheer size and weight of the statue meant that when it was installed in April of 2016 it was actually easier to fly it in by helicopter rather than lug it up and down the hundreds of steps over to the island.
The sculpture was given the title "Gallos", which is derived from the Cornish word for power. Despite having what appears to be the legendary sword, Excalibur, in hand and crown on head, English Heritage have been at some pains to neither confirm or deny whether the statue depicts King Arthur or not. The official line is that it represents not only the legend of Arthur but the royal heritage and historic importance of the site. However, for most it will be known as the King Arthur sculpture in Tintagel.
This vagueness probably stems from previous criticism of other installments at Tintagel Castle, most notably the carving of Merlin's face into the cliff face. A number of historians and Cornish nationalists were outraged by what they saw as the "Disneyfication" of such a profoundly historic site.

2000 years old Thracian chariot with horse skeletons. Found in Bulgaria, Karanovo. A team of archaeologists led by Veselin Ignatov, of the Istoricheski muzej Nova Zagora, a museum in Bulgaria, discovered the 2,000-year-old wooden chariot in 2008. It was covered in bronze and would have been decorated with scenes from Thracian mythology that are now difficult to see. Its exact age is uncertain and may be closer to 1,800 years old.

Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus was born in 519 BCE, under the rule of Tarquin, the final and tyrannical King of Rome. Tarquin was removed from power when Cincinnatus was still a boy. His first appearance in history saw him defending his son, Caeso, who regularly assaulted plebeians who took part in marches. When capital charges were raised against him and he fled to Etruria, Cincinnatus was forced to sell most of his property to pay his debts and was left with a small farm.
In 460 BCE, Cincinnatus was elected consul. A patrician by birth, he opposed the plebeians efforts to gain political power. His year as consul was marked with struggles between the patricians and plebs, with little productivity. At the end of the year he retired to his farm.

The diploma is also historically important as the only contemporary confirmation of "Marsunia" as the ancient name for Brod, Croatia.
In an utterly remarkable survival, the diploma even retains a compartment with removable cover, protecting the wax seals of those who witnessed the document - wax impressions made with intaglio rings of five of the original seven witnesses are still attached to the diploma!
