My baby is ONE!! I can hardly believe it to be honest. This year has flown by so fast, I blinked and I have a one year old.
This little girl is my everything, she’s rocked my world in only the best possible way. She is an unstoppable force of nature, but I wouldn’t have her any other way. She has enhanced my life in so many ways and brings me so much joy and happiness.

Zuri the love I have for you is immeasurable. Happy birthday my darling. Bring on the next year!!

And we are off ✈️… this trip has been a long time coming. If you know me, you’ll know pre Zuri, I travelled ALOT. So to not have been on a plane for 2 years is a big deal. And what better way to end my maternity leave other than a week in the sun ☀️ , with a cocktail in hand 🍹

I rarely have photos these days of just Zuri and I unless I’m taking a selfie so while we were both dressed up for the 1st of the 1 year birthday celebrations I took the opportunity to get a snap!

Last one before the one year mark and I just can’t quite believe it. My little newborn is well and truly gone. I’ve already got a walking, mischievous ‘toddler’. Where has the year gone. I know it sounds so cliché, but if there are any first time mums reading this, please cherish every last moment of that first year together, it really goes much faster than you might think.

My maternity leave is nearing the end and it makes me so emotional. Soon my little girl will be off to nursery, I’ll be back at work; someone else will wipe her tears when she cries, comfort her when she’s sad, but also make her giggle and laugh and provide so much more than I can give.
It makes me so emotional that our year together is nearly over, but what a year it’s been and I have loved every last minute.

Zuri you are and always will be my world. 🌏❤️

⭐️9 MONTH UPDATE⭐️

Only over a week late but who’s counting…
Baby girl has now been earthside longer than I grew her for and I’ll probably say this every update, but I still cannot believe how quickly time is going.

I haven’t done an update for a while so here goes.

⚖️ she is just over 7kg

👗 she has just started growing out of her 0-3 sleepsuits, but 0-3 clothing is still going strong

💤 her sleep is still a bit wild. We had a few nights of 8 hour sleep without a wake up then covid happened and let’s just say I’m tired all over again, but currently she’s averaging 3 wake ups a night.

🍌food is probably Zuri’s biggest change. If you followed my stories you’ll know we have a rough 3 months with her eating, but now she will eat just about anything apart from breakfast she’s not a big fan of breakfast. I really couldn’t be prouder of how far she’s come.

😁 Zuri is constantly babbling now, and she said her first word. She alternates between “mama” & “mum”

⚖️ Zuri took 2 wobbly unsupported steps, and can now walk holding just one of my hands.

Zuri is a force to be reckoned with, and so affectionate to those around her unless she doesn’t know you then she’ll just stare you out.

Raising a girl in this crazy world is without doubt a scary prospect. But I couldn’t be happier to be a girl mum.

My hope for her is that she’ll always realise how powerful she is in this world dominated by men. I’ll always encourage her to know and believe that she can be whoever she chooses to be and that she can be unstoppable in this crazy world.

I promise to always guide you to safely navigate through life as a strong, independent female.

Happy World Book day! 📚

We’ve recently introduced a book or 2 every night as part of Zuri’s bedtime routine and she loves it and so do I. It’s our precious time together cuddling and winding down before bed. The ‘Never Touch A’ books are her current faves. Can’t beat a touchy and feel book. Fun fact: I didn’t even know these existed before having a baby. Funny the things you find out when you become a parent.

My little munchkin is 8 months old, well she turned 8 months on Wednesday!!

Not a day goes by where she doesn’t amaze me in some way. Her development is super fast and in the last month she’s been crawling around everywhere, touching everything she shouldn’t (plug sockets, radiators, wires), literally giving me heart attacks daily, her bottom 2 teeth have made an appearance…finally and she’s started standing by herself unaided… what?! I basically have a toddler eeekkk.

She’s also started throwing tantrums and now might eat or taste something once a week which if you know is a huge improvement.
Oh and about her sleep (no she’s still not sleeping through), but we are down to one/two wake ups a night.

I’m so proud of how my little bean is growing up ❤️

Unfiltered: Today I took myself and my little munchkin off for an impromptu trip to the beach, hence no make up and I didn’t even bother to do my hair, but who cares. Making memories and making the most of the time we have together is way more important than getting the perfect picture.
And besides, to me this IS the perfect picture.

WEANING 🥦🍌: “it’ll be fun” they said “enjoy the process” they said. If you’ve been following my stories you’ll know that weaning for us has not been all of the above. Zuri loves playing with food but not eating it and at nearly 2 months in she still hasn’t been able to grasp the concept of swallowing solids or purées. It’s mad to watch a baby learn & struggle to do something we do so naturally as adults. And when I say struggle, I mean every small bit of food that Zuri tries to swallow ends up with her gagging a lot followed by a lot of puke.

Don’t get me wrong I’m well aware that gagging is a very normal part of the weaning journey, but almost 2 months in I’d have thought that she’d have got the hang of it.

I try to remain calm as I don’t want to scare her which could make that gagging turn into choking, but I sh*t you not it’s pretty traumatic for me to watch as well.

All babies develop at different stages so I know she’ll get there eventually, it’s just the look of fear that she gives me when she goes through it, that’s hard to watch as well as seeing it happen 99% of the time.

So if you are weaning or about to start just know not all baby’s take to it straight away, it really is a journey ( a long one in my case), but they will get there in the end but you are not alone.
