QOTD: What is your favorite palette cleanser read?

Whenever I’m reading high fantasy book series, I tend to go slow so that I can really devour the experience. I often get so overwhelmed, that I need a fun read to tow me over to the next book.

Dark Comedy does just that. I just started reading ‘How to Kill Your Family’ by Bella Mackie () and it is just as fun as it sounds.

I was in Houston for a couple weeks last month and I entered every bookstore that I found while exploring the city. I’m proud to admit that I did not buy a single book. My physical TBR already accounts for more than 50% of all the books I have in my apartment and that’s scary. I literally have books stored in the weirdest corners. That being said, I got my hands on a limited edition of The Mistborn Trilogy right here in Hyderabad. So much for the book-buying ban!

QOTD: Who is your auto-buy author(s)?

This is a difficult one for me to answer because I have so many of them but there are some authors that I absolutely adore. If they release a book, I am buying it and reading it. No questions asked.

Here is my condensed list:

📚 Sarah J. Maas -
📚 Emily St. John Mandel -
📚 Jennifer Niven -
📚 Chitra Divakaruni -

Wow, they’re all women!!!

*Life Update*

I have been absent from this space for a while because I was busy moving to my work location after two years of Working From Home and it takes a lot of time and energy to set up a new place.

I am almost done and am getting back into somewhat of a routine. Being non-productive for someone who is obsessed with being organized is really difficult. I have thus stayed away from trying to do everything at the same time and prioritizing.

Well, I am back and starting this gorgeous book on a Thursday night with the hopes of relaxing into a reading routine. I have been so excited to pick this up, because the premise is so so good and is a superstar!

I am 100 pages in and picture me intrigued.

What are you looking forward to reading this Spring?

In today’s episode of ‘Jasleen Saini 101’ I present to you my second love - If you don’t know what my first love is, why are you even here? (Hint: They’re available in every format - hardbacks, paperbacks, e-books, audiobooks)

But, I love me some stationery and by some I mean I have collected so much of if over the years that you could call me an addict.

Look at these gorgeous notebooks by and tell me I’m insane. I dare you.

They’re available in a range of beautiful colors and I ADORE them!

The 🧊 blue one is my reading journal for this year and I will be giving you a sneak peak of that over the weekend.

I am still thinking of what to do with the gorgeous A4 📕, but I’ll put it to good use.

Do you love stationery? Tag some of your favorite instagram stores where I can go burn some cash.

Avoiding Distractions - Part 1

Avoiding distractions is tough, and it takes a significant amount of work and will. If you are ready to put in the work the following ways will certainly be of great help to you.

1. Use the ‘Do Not Disturb’ Feature On Your Smartphones - Doing this one thing right now can give you instant results! I normally block all phone calls and notifications, barring the phone calls of my ‘ favorite contacts’, whenever I am working on something that requires my undivided attention.
2. Pomodoro Technique Is Your New Best Friend - For every task/project, you have to divide into short sprints and take periodic breaks. You work for 25 minutes, then take a break for five minutes. Each 25-minute work period is called a “Pomodoro”. After 4 pomodoros you take a long 20-minute break and start again.
3. Reserve Your Productive Window for Strategic and Priority Tasks - This one requires some introspection. You need to know your productive window. I know of people who can get things done in the morning, and I also know my fair share of night owls.
4. Remove All Background Noise - There is only so much you can control in an office environment. There will always be someone who wants to talk to you for ‘2 minutes’ and that ends up being a long conversation. Even if you’re working from home, there is enough background noise to successfully distract you.

There you have it. Let me know in the comments what has worked for you in the past.

Most folks read one book at a time, but I am a weird reader. I'm always reading 2-3 books at the same time, sometimes even more. I read according to the time of day.

I reserve self-help Non Fiction for the mornings, because my brain can absorb a lot of information in the morning. I spend an hour or so in the morning for this.

When it comes to Fiction, I read fast-paced books that are over 400 pages. Generally. I go through them mostly when I am on my lunch and dinner breaks and at night. I get through them fairly quickly.

Here are some of the books I am simultaneously reading -

1. A Stranger in the Lifeboat by
2. Atomic Habits by
3. Jade City by .lee

Also, sneaking up on these books is my ice blue reading journal for the year by

How many books do you read at the same time?
