Surrounded by activities erroneously dubbed as "masculine” in her youth, Maxima found herself drawn to and participating in adventure sports. Her curiosity and skill offered a radical perspective to those who surrounded her who weren’t used to seeing women take part in disciplines such as motocross or water skiing. This ambition paved the way for a lifetime focused on amplifying women’s rights.

As you may have noticed we are taking a rest from releasing new podcast episodes, but the team is at work and looking into the future. The choice to pause, rest and regroup has been a tough one considering most media channels demand for constant input for survival.
We consider ourselves, our communication and media as part of nature, and have decided to honor the the fact that the most significant and enduring changes and growth in nature happen in pauses, in resting periods and in silence.
In the near future we will ignote curiosity and engage with the community with original material and ideas in the ways you already like, and in new ones as well…. But for now, we regroup and work backstage.

This is Earth Week! In today´s Sound Journey 03: Huahuas Basement. This 1568 foot deep cenote in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, is home and shelter of thousands of Guacamayas, which fly out during sunrise after waking up. The sonic spectacle resembles a natural turbine that propels the birds up.

Riker Vermylie is the founder of the non-profit MadAgave, which aims to create food security, biodiversity conservation, and economic development in the famine afflicted Deep South of Madagascar.
Riker's experience working for the US senate on the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis led him to volunteer as an Agroforestry Extension Volunteer for the Peace Corps in one of the most impoverished and remote regions of the world in Madagascar, where half-decade of drought, exacerbated by climate change and land degradation, has created an ongoing humanitarian crisis with over 1 million people and 500,000 children experiencing chronic malnutrition.
His work is fueled by a fierce human spirit and the interconnection with nature. He is currently working to introduce a novel agroforestry and livestock management system to the drylands of southern Madagascar to break the cycle of poverty and deforestation.
