Every single time I open my LinkedIn, successful people are giving subliminal messages of constant exhaustion being a marker of success. On Instagram there is a bombardment of 'rise and grind' and 'hustle harder'.
There is a constant push all the time to do more, and to eventually feel less. Coming from a career in corporate for more than 12 years, in 2020 when I decided to go pave my own path in work, I found a lot of challenges, and one of them was to set boundaries in my professional and personal life. To know when to switch off. Coming from a culture of overwork obsession, I ended up feeling guilty when I wasn't working more, feeling exhausted. 'I work for my own self' almost felt like a sham. But slowly I began realising that I was still getting work done, and finding all this free time to just be. To focus on what I love doing, to find out things about me I never even knew, because I was always occupied with work and not all of that was productive. It takes time to unlearn what you have learnt.
Do you feel annoyed too when you hear someone 'boasting' about compromising their personal life for work?
I'm a Gemini and that means I want to try everything in the world atleast once. This one was a cute shoot with @mcdonaldspakistan that turned into a slumber party with some amazing girls I met on the set.
