I really like the way this walnut and maple teardrop serving board turned out. It was a custom order for a customer and is about 17” in diameter. Huge!

I've been a little low-key over here lately. I've been reflecting on the year, looking back at what I accomplished and what I didn't, and planning for the new year. What do I want to accomplish this year? What business goals should I shoot for? I think it's important to reflect, not just once a year, but at the end of the year, it's a good time for it.
Last night, we grabbed some champagne and poured the kids some sparkling cider, and we all gave toasts to the new year and things we want to see happen. It was fun to get the kids involved in dreaming and reflecting.
I hope you have had some time to reflect on your year and dream of what this new year will bring. I think it's going to be a great one. Happy New Year!

It’s a good exercise of getting out of your usual pattern or habits. Have any projects that break it up for you recently? I was taking this countertop to have it sanded, so removing a little of the excess bulk now will only help with that. Sometimes, a little hand-sawing is pretty satisfying. #woodworking #maker #countertop

What do you use to protect your work surfaces from glue? I only do this when I'm using a lot of glue, like with cutting boards. It does a really good job!

Don't skip this step! If you don't raise the grain on cutting boards (or any project that Will see water), the first time it gets wet, it'll beep fuzzy & rough. #woodworking #maker #cuttingboard

When I'm making cutting boards, I figure out the thickness I would like the finished board to be, and make rips at the tablesaw at that width. Then, I can rotate each piece 90º and end up with the cutting board I want. Simple enough, right? #woodworking #cuttingboard

It was race day for a couple of local races this weekend and I laser engraved the medals! There were over 108 of these Brothers’ Run medals and I think they turned out great! Thanks to Lakeside Woodworks for letting me help with both of these race medals. Let me know if you need some laser engraving done!

As I'm milling up my boards to make a cutting board, I use light finger pressure to see if they'll be nicely. If they come together well with just light finger pressure, you'll have a really good glue joint. #woodworking #cuttingboard

As I have leftovers from projects, I put them in scrap bins. When I need to make cutting boards, I just go to the bins and pick what I want. Follow along with my posts as I show what I do to make cutting boards
