Massive day taking the boys to the big smoke. Got to ride the train (kids loved it, we didn’t lol) see some dinosaurs and visit the brother in hospital. Let’s hope these kids finally have a sleep in for once 😂.

Here we are again. This guy and his troublesome ears have left with not being able to register noise under 40db, after 2 sets of grommets and a removal, let’s hope they can just suction it out without needing set number 3… at least we had the room to muck around.

Another small moment I liked to celebrate today. I haven’t been able to give as much attention as I’d like to the podcast so it’s not a huge number. But I am still humbled that 150 different times I was able to share something with a Dad somewhere. I’ll be getting back to more of a grind now and hopefully continue growing! Thanks for all of the love so far ❤️

Was so unsure about this episode. It’s probably the most vulnerable I have felt in a long time.
I decided to record this in the middle of my own battle with depression. To share what it can look and sound like. Some strategies to deal with and also support someone mental health issues.
What might be able to help. And what doesn’t.

When becoming a Dad, I always had thoughts about what I would be like as a Dad, I’m gonna be tough but loving, teach them so many sports, Be stoic when they are sick. I learned that it never really goes like you expect. I definitely am not stoic when the boys are sick 😂 falling off your bike, “ah you’re ok”, gets a little temperature… I’m planning what hospital I should take them to. I’ve gotten better. But it’s definitely something I have had to adjust to.
I would love to hear what you guys have found that isn’t anything like you expected.

Every now and then, you have a moment where in your head or out loud you have the thought… “man I love being a Dad”. Mine has got to be that drop everything and scream and run with that smile screaming “Daaaaaaaaad!!!!” Gets me everytime.

I love seeing how persistent the boys are when they want to achieve something. Taj doesn’t have the best core strength, so doing. Balancing exercises are harder to master. Just pushing and balancing took a solid 30 minutes. As frustrated as he got. He never looked like quitting.

One of the hardest things I’ve found as a Dad is figuring out who/where to go to when I need some help. After a tough month and even tougher week, I have booked into see my psych again… in JUNE! So in the meantime I will look to my wife, my family and my friends. And I have the number ready to dial
If you are having a tough time and don’t have your normal channel of support, don’t give up! There are people who are ready listen and help. ❤️💪🏽

I’m thinking of making my next episode about the delivery day. It’s a crazy experience for everyone involved, and while I thought we had mentally readied ourselves there were moments that left me shook. 😂 1. Just how big the placenta can be 😳. 2. Just how much blood gushes out if there is an internal bleed and they do a stomach massage 😳😳😳. Yours don’t have to be as gory as that but I would love to hear the things you just weren’t ready for.

Share your thoughts! Sometimes it can be hard fitting in the things you love to do. For me golf and gaming was harder to get the time and freedom to enjoy. Even now I find if I want to have a session on the PlayStation it’s once everyone is asleep and when it’s at the sacrifice of my own sleep. I do try and involve the kids in my gaming which is awesome. What have you found th last works?

Not having my Dad around meant I missed out on learning a lot of everyday skills early; changing a tyre, using a drill, tying a tie. I learnt them from other figures in my life but sharing those learning moments with my sons now is something special. It not only builds their life skills, but teaches me patience and makes me adaptable. And most of all strengthens our father son bond.

When you have 2 or more kids, setting aside 1-on-1 time for both kids is so important. You have so many interactions that may get missed. Idris is a almost a different kid.
