Agom Felicitates with Comrade Orduwen Audu on his birthday

The Member representing Okpokwu Constituency at the Benue State House of Assembly Rt. Hon Agom Anthony, heartily extends his warmest wishes to Comrade Orduwen Audu on his birthday.

The Chairman Public Account Committee, who is known for his handshake across Benue State and commitment to the youth, express his heartfelt greetings to Comrade Audu as he celebrates another milestone of God's grace and blessings.

In his message, Honourable Agom praised Comrade Audu for his dedication to the activities of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Benue State and urge him to keep it up for there is a reward for hard work.

As he celebrate with Comrade Audu, the People's Lawmaker emphasized the importance of unity and solidarity across Benue State and beyond in the pursuit of a better future and society for all. He noted that, his bond and relationship cut across Benue State irrespective of tribe, religion and political identity and urged other leaders to imbibe the culture of one humanity.

Agom Attends Okpokwu PDP Stakeholders' Meeting at Okpoga
.....Charge them on free and fair upcoming PDP local government congress.

The Member representing Okpokwu State Constituency at the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Agom Anthony today, 31st May, 2024 attends Okpokwu PDP Stakeholders' Meeting at Okpoga.

The Chairman, Public Accounts in his speech charged PDP Stakeholders to be free and fair in the upcoming Local Government Congress.

He further stated that PDP as a party needed men and women of integrity and reputation to enable the party reclaim power from the APC led administration that has brought untold hardship to Nigerians.

In attendance were, the immediate past Okpokwu Local Government Council Chairman, Hon. Mrs Amina Audu, Hon. Musa Abah Ojih, the former Vice Chairman, Okpokwu Local Government Council, Hon. Barr. Jacob Ogwuche, the former Adviser to the immediate past Governor of Benue state, Hon. Godfrey Adah PDP State Exco.

Also in attendance were, Hon.Mrs. Agnes Abah the zonal Woman Leader, Hon.Emmanuel Enyimoche the immediate past Secretary of Okpokwu Local Government Council, Hon. One Year in Office; Hon Agom Felicitates with Benue State Governor, Fr. Hyacenth Alia

The Member representing Okpokwu Constituency at the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Agom Anthony heartly felicitates with the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia in the commemoration of His Excellency one year in office.

The Chairman Public Accounts Committee noted that, while celebrating the Governor's one year in office, it is important to reflect on the progress and achievements made during this period.

The Lawmaker stated that, the Governor Alia has shown great dedication and commitment to the development of the state, implementing various policies and programs aimed at improving the lives of the people.

Hon Agom pointed out that; under Governor Alia's leadership, there has been significant progress in areas such as infrastructure development, healthcare, education, and agriculture.

He appreciated the Governor's efforts to industrialize the state with his various initiatives which are already yeilding results for the masses.

Honourable Agom Celebrates His Lovely Wife Regina on Her Birthday Anniversary

The Member representing Okpokwu Constituency at the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Agom Anthony has taken a moment to celebrate his caring wife, Hon. Mrs. Regina Agom on her special day.

The Chairman Public Accounts Committee in a statement on Sunday, by his Senior Legislative Aide, Hon Ajogwu Innocent, praised his wife as a pillar of support. He described her as an inspiring life-partner, a devoted prayer warrior, a caring wife, and a loving queen.

Rt. Hon Agom expressed his gratitude to his darling wife for her unwavering love throughout the years. He appreciated her strength, kindness, grace, and thanked her for being his rock and confidante.

He thank God for their journey together, for everything they have achieved, and for the love that binds them through thick and thin.

He also commended his wife commitment to the betterment of Okpokwu Constituency and her several efforts that have positively impacted the lives of many.

Honourable Agom Chairs Wedding of Faith and Peter

The Lawmaker representing Okpokwu State Constituency at Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Agom Anthony, had the honour of chairing the wedding of Faith and Peter.

The colourful cerebration of love and commitment took place at Holy Name Catholic Parish, Ugbokolo.

The Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District and Minority Leader of the Senate, Comrade Abba Patrick Moro was a special guest of honour at the wedding.

The Chairman of the Occasion, Rt Hon Agom JP in his words of wisdom and encouragement admonished the couple Faith Audu and Eze Peter, to imbibe the virtues of patience, perseverance, tolerance, maturity and above all love.

Faith and Peter were honoured to have Honourable Agom chair their wedding, and they were grateful for his presence and support as they embarked on the new chapter of their lives.

The wedding was attended by host of other dignitaries which includes; Rt. Hon Michael Audu, Minority Leader of 10th Benue State House of Assembly, Hon Amina Audu, Hon Solomon onah.

Rt. Hon Agom Anthony Bagged Meritorious Award from National Association of Okpoga Students

The Member representing Okpokwu Constituency at the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Agom has received a prestigious Meritorious Award from National Association of Okpoga Students (NOUS) Benue State University Chapter.

Honourable Agom who was the pioneer President of the union Benue State University Chapter, bagged the award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the development of education and youth empowerment.

The Chairman Public Accounts Committee is also known for his relentless effort in advocating for quality education and providing opportunities for young people, championing educational policies and initiatives.

The students who presented the award praised Agom for his dedication and commitment to making a positive difference in their lives. They cited his initiatives such as scholarship programs, JAMB registration, infrastructure development and support to indigent students.

In his acceptance speech, Honourable Agom expressed his gratitude for the recognition and affirmed his continued commitment to education and youth empowerment.

Agom, Senator Moro Join Rt Hon Michael Audu in Flag-off of Disbursement of Funds for JAMB/Scholarship Scheme

The Member representing Okpokwu State Constituency at the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Agom Anthony today joined his colleague and the Minority Leader of the 10th Benue State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Michael Audu, Member representing Adoka-Ugboju Constituency in the flag-off ceremony of his disbursement of funds for JAMB registration and scholarship scheme for students of his constituency.

The Chairman Public Accounts Committee thanked the sponsor of the program Rt Hon Michael Audu Foundation for the gesture to the youths and students of Adoka and Ugboju constituency.

He emphasized the vital role education plays in national development and charged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the opportunity noting that; quality education is a must for them.

"Education is a catalyst for societal progress, and we must encourage our youths to ride on its wings to the attainment of their fullest potentials," Agom stated.

The Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District and Minority Leader of the Senate, Comrade Abba Patrick Moro also graced the event.

The Governor of Benue State, His Excellency Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia
and the Speaker of Benue State House of Assembly, Honourable Aondona Dajoh were both represented by the Majority Leader of Benue State House of Assembly at the program.

The lawmaker representing Okpokwu Constituency at the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Agom Anthony felicitates with Christians around the world, calling for love, selflessness and
peaceful co-existence as they mark Easter.

The Chairman Public Accounts Committee in his Easter message said, despite the challenging times the country is facing, he is hopeful that every Christian will find solace and joy in the spirit of Easter.

"Easter is a time of renewal, hope, and reflection. It is a time when we come together as a people, cherishing the values that unite us and celebrating the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, and love over hatred."

Rt Hon Agom stated that he is still committed to serving his people and advocating for their needs and concerns. In his words; "I am here to listen, to support, and to be your voice in the decision-making processes that affect you in the state. Together, we will overcome the challenges we face and emerge stronger, united, and full of hope for the future."

Your Appointments One-Sided, Benue State House Of Assembly to BSLGSC Chairman

The Benue State House of Assembly at today's plenary interrogated the Chairman, Benue State Local Government Service Commission, Mr James Ivever over the twisted appointments of DGSAs, Treasurers, HODs and other positions in the various local governments in the state.

The House noted that the appointments by the commission lacked fairness and equity in its entirety and called on the Chairman to return to the drawing board in following the Federal Character Principles in the composition of the various appointments.

The Member representing Okpokwu State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Anthony Agom who expressed strong disapproval over the one sided appointments made by the commission in his local government and other constituenci wonder why democratic principles of fairness was not followed.

The House, in its resolution following the series of complaints and palpable tension in the various local governments resulting from the unfair appointments, mandated the Chairman of the commission, Mr Ivever to put on paper, the names, positions, grade level and council ward of all the appointees and forward to the House within the next seven (7) working days, for check and input where applicable.

In another development, the Assembly passed a resolution calling on Governor Reverend Father Dr Hyacinth Alia to de-freeze the accounts of the state government with immediate effect.

Rt Hon Agom while contributing to the Motion stated that "the state should not be managed like a parish."
When the speaker, Honorable Hyacinth Dajoh put the matter to voice vote majority of members passed the resolution that the Governor should de-freeze the state government accounts with immediate effect.

Agom Pays Last Respect to Late Mama Oowo Mark at Otukpo

The Lawmaker representing Okpokwu Constituency at Benue State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Agom Anthony along with his mentors, the former Senate President, David Mark GCON, the Minority Leader of the Senate, Senator Abba Patrick Moro and a host of other leaders, paid their last respects to late Mama Oowo Aikwuta Mark at her funeral service.

Late Mama Oowo Mark is the foster mother of the former Senate President, Senator David Mark. She passed unto glory at the age of 101.

The solemn occasion which was held in Upu, Otukpo Local Government, was filled with prayers, songs, and heartfelt words of remembrance for the beloved matriarch.

The Chairman Public Accounts Committee spoke fondly of Mama Oowo, praising the deceased for her kindness, wisdom, and dedication to her family and community.

As Mama Oowo was laid to rest, Honourable Agom and the other mourners offered their final goodbyes, knowing that her legacy would live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

The Lawmaker encouraged other women to continue Mama Oowo's legacy of compassion and service, ensuring that her memory is honoured for generations to come.

International Women's Day: Agom Felicitates With Nigerian Women

The Member representing Okpokwu Constituency at the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Agom Anthony heartily congratulates women especially Okpokwu Women on the world International Women's Day.

International Women's Day (IWD) is a holiday celebrated annually on March 8 as a focal point in the women's rights movement. IWD gives focus to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, violence and abuse against women.

The United Nations has designated this year's theme as 'Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress' with a focus on addressing economic disempowerment, while the campaign theme for this year is 'Inspire Inclusion.'

The Chairman Public Accounts Committee stated that, today is a day of reflection on the progress made towards gender equality and noted that alot needs to be done.

Agom pays glowing tribute to the countless women who have paved the way for future generations, breaking barriers and shattering stereotypes along the way and playing vital role in shaping the world.

He encourages women to keep on speaking up when necessary to demand for their rights. He described women as strong, capable, and deserve to be treated with respect and dignity.

Agom Pays Condolence Visit To Hon Musa Over The Death Of Wife

The member representing the good people of Okpokwu State Constituency at the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Agom Anthony yesterday 23rd February, 2024 paid a condolence visit to the family of Hon Musa Oji, the former Vice Chairman Okpokwu Local Government over the demise of his beloved wife, Late Mrs Paulina Oji.

Late Mrs Paulina Oji died 22nd February, 2024 after a brief illness.

The Chairman Public Accounts Committee who said late Mrs Oji was a strong women mobilizer and ardent supporter of the PDP, died when her wise counsel is needed most.

The Giveback Lawmaker said death is inevitable end of all mortals but it is always difficult to lose a loved one.

He expressed his sincere heartfelt condolences to the family of Hon Musa and prayed for the peaceful repose of the soul of Late Mrs Oji and souls of all the faithfuls departed.
Rt. Hon. Agom called on God to grant the husband and the entire family the fortitude to bear the irreversible loss.

In his response, Hon Musa who received Rt Hon Agom on behalf of his family, said the death of his wife and mother, Mrs Oji had thrown them into deep sorrow, stating that she was their adviser and confidant and thanked Hon Agom for identifying with them at the time of their grief.

Agom Attends Legislative Training Program in Istanbul

The Lawmaker representing Okpokwu Constituency at the Benue State House of Assembly and Chairman Public Accounts Committee, Rt Hon Agom Anthony was part of Benue State Lawmakers who participated in a legislative training program held in Istanbul, Turkey.

The training tagged "The Legislature's Roles, Financial Control Mechanism, Budget Monitoring and Implementation, Mechanized Agriculture and Husbandry" was offered by WOCOPA Academy.

During the training, the lawmaker gain in-depth knowledge about financial control mechanism, budget monitoring and implementation, mechanized agriculture and husbandry as it relates to global best practices from experts, and interact with other lawmakers.

The training equally provided an opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences with fellow legislators.

Istanbul is a vibrant city with a rich history and cultural heritage, provides a conducive ground for the lawmakers to enhance their knowledge and skills.
The availability of world-class facilities and the presence of renowned training institutions make Istanbul an attractive destination for legislative training.

The training will ultimately contribute to the effectiveness of the lawmakers that participated and their ability to serve their constituents more efficiently. The Training took place at the Vespia Hotel.

The lawmaker who is the Chairman Public Accounts Committee has a promising future in the political arena and his personality has equally gained significant influence and recognition in the field of legislation.

Today, he has a strong track records of successful legislation, oversight committee functions and constituency outreach that has brought positive change to his people.

Rt Hon Agom has consistently demonstrated ability to build bipartisan coalitions and work across party lines, successfully navigating the intricate dynamics of the political landscape.

His strong leadership skills have allowed him to effectively communicate his ideas and garner support from both colleagues and constituents.

Benue State House of Assembly Lifts Suspension on Agom and Gyila

The Benue State House of Assembly has lifted the three-month suspension slammed on two out of the four members of the House of Assembly.

Recall that the Benue State House of Assembly last Monday suspended the lawmakers for allegedly “constituting a clog in the smooth running of the House.”

The lawmakers affected were Hon. Solomon Gyila, representing Gwer West State Constituency; Hon. Douglas Akya of Makurdi South; Hon. Dyako Ashwa of Konshisha State Constituency; and Hon Anthony Agom of Okpokwu State Constituency.

But during today's plenary, the House of Assembly resolved to lift the suspension on Lawmaker representing Okpokwu State Constituency, Rt. Hon Agom Anthony, and his Gwer-West counterpart, Hon. Solomon Gyila.

The House took the decision following the motion moved by the member representing Ohimini State Constituency, Hon. Isaac Ochekilye which was seconded by the Minority Leader, Hon. Micheal Audu representing Adoka/Ugboju constituency.

In his motion, Hon. Ochekilye appealed to the Assembly to lift the three-month suspension of the four lawmakers to ensure effective representation for their respective constituents.

Seconding the motion, Hon. Audu noted that since each lawmaker represents and speaks for their respective constituencies, the suspension would deny the constituents the needed voice in the Assembly.

Others who called for the suspension to be lifted included Hon. Abu Umoru of Apa State Constituency, Hon. Simon Gabo representing Mata, and Hon. Manger Manger of Tarka State Constituency.

Ruling, the Speaker, Hon. Aondona Dajoh pointed out that “the decision to suspend the lawmakers was not personal,” stressing that “even in the Bible, punishments are meted out to those who go astray.”
Hon. Dajoh noted that “out of the four suspended members, Anthony Agom and Solomon Gyila have shown remorse and will be recalled,” adding that Akya of Makurdi South and Dyako of Konshisha would be allowed time to show remorse for their actions.

Speaking briefly after the plenary, Rt. Hon Agom thanked the Governor of Benue State, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia for his intervention. He also appreciated the Speaker, Hon Aondona Dajoh for his timely role, the Minority Leader Hon Mike Audu and all other Lawmakers who played various roles to see his suspension lifted on time.

The Chairman Public Accounts Committee stated that, he was at the plenary today with his colleagues and it is time to join hands with the Governor for the overall development of Benue State.

The Chairman Public Accounts Committee, in his remarks thanked the people of Benue South Senatorial District for finding his principal worthy of resounding celebration for the good works he has being doing for the people and his emergence as Senate Minority Leader.

The Lawmaker acknowledged and appreciated the Paramount Ruler of Idoma Nation, His Royal Majesty Elaigwu Odogbo Obagaji John PhD for his continuous blessings and support for Idoma sons and daughters.

The Member representing Okpokwu Constituency at the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Agom Anthony JP heartly felicitates with Barr. Agada John Elachi on his induction as Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN.

Barr. Elachi is from Okpodu, Okpoga in Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State which Rt. Hon. Agom represents.

The Chairman House Committee on Public Accounts praises Barr. Elachi for achieving the prestigious milestone in his legal career, which he attributes to his hard work, dedication, and expertise which earned him the well-deserved title of Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

The Lawmaker is confident that Barr. Elachi will make Idoma and Benue State proud with his continued presence in the legal community which will bring positive change and hope to all those in need of Justice.
