Limpopo traffic department says it is alleged that a minibus driver was trying to overtake another vehicle when collided head on with a loading van.

The department says eight people died on the scene.

The police in Limpopo are investigating the death of two medical doctors who were found dead on their apartment in Polokwane on Monday.

It is alleged that the duo who are husband and wife aged thirty two and thirty five had a quarrel earlier on the day.

Police suspects that the husband shot and killed his wife before turning the gun to himself.

The two were attached to Donald Fraser and Pietersburg Provincial Hospital respectively.

Limpopo provincial health spokesperson Neil Shikwambana says the cause of the fire is not yet established, and community members are being advised to use nearby clinics.

Shikwamabana says no injuries or fatalities were reported.

South African National Defence Force member has been arrested for allegedly aiding six suspects to flee under police guard in Louis Trichardt.

Police were transporting six awaiting trial prisoners from Louis Trichardt to Vivo, when they were ambushed by two cars and immediately shot at before they could free the prisoners on Monday.

Six suspects were freed and flee with a private car and a bakkie.

The prisoners, all from Zimbabwe were arrested for various suspected crimes including aggraviated robberies; attempted murder; and being in possession of unlicensed fi****ms.

SANDF member was arrested together with a civilian in Musina.

Six awaiting trialists have escaped under police guard when they were transported between Vivo and Makhado on Monday.

It is alleged that heavly armed suspects interrupted the transportation of the six by shooting at police van until they managed to free the awaiting trialists.

Police says the suspects together with the awaiting trialists sped off in a grey Mercedes Benz and a white Toyota Bakkie.

All awaiting trialists are Zimbabwean national aged between twenty six and thirty five.

Limpopo Hawks police have discovered and seized illicit ci******es at the value of thirty million rand at an undisclosed farm in Musina on Saturday.

Police acted on tipoff and activated an operation that include Limpopo South African Police Service; South Africa National Defence Force; and South African Revenue Srrvices.

Limpopo Hawks spokesperson Matimba Maluleke says on their arrival to the ssid farm, they found a truck and a tractor with trailer loaded with suspected illicit ci******es that were covered with brick pallets.

Maluleke says they also discovered a bakkie and another truck in the vicinity that were also fully loaded with suspected illicit ci******es.

After a long night trying to safeguard exhibit, five suspects aged between 26 and 44 were arrested for contravening the Customs and Excise Act and are expected to appear in the Musina Magistrate's court on Monday.

Four fishers who were stranded at a small island at Limpopo river outside Masisi have been rescued.

SAPS K9 unit, Water and Air Wing Units rescued two females and two males next to Rangani village outside Masisi on Monday

Provincial police spokesperson Motlafela Mojapelo says it is allegedly reported that they were fishing in the river when they were swept away by the water to the island between Nwanedi and Limpopo rivers where they stayed there for five days.

They were identified as Emely Mutavhatsindi (40) from Malale village, Ndoweni Munyai (47), Kedibone Funanani (53), and Booi Munyai (54) all from Madimbo village.

They have been taken to local clinic for medical treatment.

Limpopo community safety MEC Fulufhelo Radzilani condemned the torching of fifteen houses at Gumbu Village outside Musina on Saturday.

The spate of violence is related to the killing of the local headman, Takalani Gumbu earlier this week.

Gumbu was shot and killed in front of his palace.

Radzilani has called for calm and appealed with the residents to desist from acts of violence.

Police members have been drployed in the village and it is not clear if they made any arrest at this stage.

Rosemary Nevhudogwa was one of the Mabirimisa bus company passenger that was involed on the N1 accident on her way from Louis Trichardt to Nzhelele, when it collided with cash in transit van and plunged into the Phandanama river.

Makhado Municipality mayor Samuel Munyai was among the mourners, as other municipal councillors were deployed to attend other funerals of accident victims in various parts around Dzanani.

Munyai conveyed a message of condolences to the bereaved families.

Police says they received a tip-off about suspects who committed house robbery in Musina last year December, and they were traced until one of them was positively linked to the incident and arrested in Nzhelele area.

Limpopo department of Transport says police divers went back to the scene on Thursday morning, after a family reported that they could not locate their loved one who was a passenger at the Mabirimisa bus company on the dsy of the accident.

The bus plunged into Phandanama river along the N1 not so far from Hendrik Verwoerd tunnel, after a head-on collision with a cash-in-transit van on Monday.

Gumbu traditional leader was shot dead in front of his palace at Gumbu village outside Musina on Sunday night.

Takalani Andries Gumbu aged forty reportedly arrived home at about ten oclock on Sunday evening and soon after getting out of his motor vehicle, was shot and killed by unknown suspect who fled the scene on foot.

Limpopo police says the deceased was certified dead on the scene and he was found with multiple gun wounds.

The motive for the incident is unknown.

Limpopo police have intercepted a convoy of illegal ci******es smugglers outside Louis Trichardt.

Police operationalized information received about ten motor vehicles which were smuggling illicit ci******es from Zimbabwe to South Africa on the N1 road heading towards Louis Trichardt.

After police chase, five vehicles were then cornered with the help of members of the Louis Trichardt Farm Watch, while the other five managed to evade arrest.

Police says eleven arrested suspects were found to be undocumented foreign nationals who initially tried to engage in a fistfight with the police.

Police further says the five vehicles were found loaded with illicit ci******es at a value of four hundred thousand rands.

The suspects, aged between twenty four and forty three will appear at Louis Trichardt magistrate's court soon.

Family in Mokwakwaila found their loved one grave violated and co**se removed amid preparation for tombstone unveiling.

A family member had on Sunday reportedly gone to the cemetery to clean the gravesite in preparation for the upcoming gathering, when she discovered that the grave was dug open and the co**se stolen.

The police says she then alerted family members and police were also notified, and upon arriving at the scene they discovered an open coffin with no co**se inside.

Modike Philemon Masedi whose body was stolen, reportedly buried J last year January.

Police are investigating a case of violation of grave and theft.

Limpopo taxi driver wanted for murder that took place at Mashau Bodwe village outside Louis Trichardt.

It is alleged that Mthandazo Joseph Baskete of Mashamba village outside Louis Trichardt forcefully enterd the house in Mashau and hacked his ex-lover and her mother with panga last month.

Police says the suspect then forced their five-year-old child into the vehicle belonging to his ex-girlfriend and drove away, but the vehicle was later found abandoned in Makhado and soon after that the child was also safely located at his father's homestead in Mashamba village but the suspect had disappeared.

According to police, the seventy seven year old woman, later succumbed to death, whereas his ex-girlfriend is injured.

Vhembe district municipality have appointed a task team to establish the csuses of water shortage in Muledane and Tswinga, in Thohoyandou.

Tha task team was formed on Tuesday after a violent protests by the community members who were demanding water.

Protesters blocked road R524 at Muledane traffic circle.

Municipality spokesperson Matodzi Ralushai says the task team will identify causes of water shortage such as illegal connections, damaged valves, damaged pipelines, water leaks while providing water tankering in the area.

The task team will further hold regular meetings to report on progress made regarding water supply in the area.

Limpopo failed comedian turned socialite Livhuwani Madadzhe abandoned bail application at Thohoyandou Magistrate's court.

Madadzhe mostly known as Captain SABC Livhu to his followers, was expected to apply for a bail on Tuesday, as he was demanding that court should release him to burry his partner.

He stand accused of allegedly killing his partner Lindelani Nengovhela and dumped her body in a pit filled with water next to his house at Mangondi village outside Thohoyandou on Saturday.

National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson in Limpopo Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi says on Friday, the suspect and the deceased appeared in Thohoyandou Magistrates' Court for a domestic violence case, and the deceased approached the prosecution, and the case was then disposed of through a mediation process.

Madazhe is expected to be back in court on the twenty third day of February.

The deceased who allegedly committed su***de was admitted at the facility following a history of violence to his close family members, and was last seen at hospital precinct on Tuesdsy.

Limpopo health spokesperson Neil Shikwambana says the deceased was discovered by security officer who sensed a bad smell coming from one of the service duct passages on Saturday.

Shikwambana says the deceased is alleged to have hanged himself, and police have opened an inquest docket.
