November 1917. The Third Battle of Gaza: The ruined interior of the Great Mosque of Gaza. The Mosque was partially demolished by British gunfire after it had been established that it was being used by the Ottomans as a dump for munitions. The Mosque was restored in 1927 by the Supreme Muslim Council of British Mandatory Palestine.

Cpt Arnold Fraser-Campbell MC, 8th Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. One of three brothers from a wealthy Scots-American family from New York who served in the British Army during the FWW. Arnold was wounded three times and lost his arm in action.

As Children, Arnold and his brothers were the subject of a Herbert Adams relief called "Singing Boys" found at The Met in New York.

During Operation Slapstick, 9th September 1943; Members of the British 1st Airborne Division are aboard a landing craft hastily headed towards the port of Taranto, Italy to attempt to secure it. Unbeknown to the German 1st Parachute Division defending the port, the Italian Government had already secretly surrendered Taranto to the Allies.

Eric (OBE) and Peggy Alley (née Marsh) on their wedding day in 1946. Eric, a veteran of and campaigner for the Arctic Convoys, served on HMS Inglefield and later HMS Mauritius after the former was sunk off Anzio. Peggy of WRNS was a Bombe operator at Bletchley Park.

Eric was a campaigner for the recognition of those who served on the Arctic Convoys of the Second World War. His contribution would eventually help lead to the establishment of the Arctic Star medal in 2012.

1944, at the Viceroy's House, New Delhi (Now the Presidential Palace). Captain the Hon. Simon Astley Aide-de-Camp in charge of Transport at Viceroy's House, being inoculated against fever by the House Surgeon. Captain Astley married the Viceroy's Daughter Lady Joan Wavell in 1943, but sadly he died just three years later.

Lieutenant Colonel Donald Bennink DFC of Chautauqua County, New York, climbs into his P-47D at an unknown airfield (possibly RAF Woodchurch, Kent or A-13 Tour-en-Bessin, Normandy).

Bennink was a member of the 373rd Fighter Group Headquarters, and by the time this photograph was cleared for publication 4th September 1944, he was already KIA over Soissons, France.

Wing Commander Thomas "Butch" Dalton-Morgan DSO, OBE, DFC & Bar, one of "The Few", flying Hurricanes with No. 43 squadron during the Battle of Britain. Later converting to Spitfires, he went on to become the squadron's longest-serving commander and also served as an advisor to the 4th Fighter Group, USAAF. By the end of the war, he had 22 confirmed victories.

Canadian Flt Lt (later Wg Cdr) Mark Henry "Hilly" Brown, DFC & Bar and Devon born P/O Charles Arthur Copeland Chetham of No. 1 Sqn, standing by the nose of a Hurricane Mk I, RAF Wittering, late 1940.

Sadly neither man survived the war. Brown was killed in a "fighter sweep" over Sicily Nov 1941, and Chetham died in Greece Apr 1941 aged just 21.

Wing Commander Michael Nicholson Crossley DSO, OBE, DFC standing in front of a Hawker Typhoon, RAF Gravesend, Kent. Crossley flew with No. 32 Squadron during the Battle of Britain, eventually taking over command after. Flying Hawker Hurricanes he was credited with shooting down 20 enemy aircraft during his career. He survived the war, eventually emigrating to South Africa to run a family lumber business.
