NDLEA raids drug joints nationwide, arrests 534 ahead of May 29 inauguration

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has launched a nationwide raid of drug joints in an exercise code-named Operation Mop Up as part of law enforcement efforts to remove enablers of crime and violence in the form of illicit substances and those who deal in them with a view to ensuring peaceful inauguration of new administrations at national and sub-national levels across the country on May 29.

Not less than 534 suspects have been arrested in the first few days of the commencement of the operation, during which tons of illicit drugs including co***ne, he**in, methamphetamine, tramadol, codeine-based syrup, cannabis sativa and various new psychoactive substances among others, were recovered across the states and the FCT.

Top on the list with high arrests and seizures are Lagos, Kano, Abuja, Kaduna, Rivers, Bayelsa, Adamawa, Osun, Benue and Plateau.

Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Agency, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd) who ordered the operation commended all the officers and men of the state commands and other formations involved in the exercise for their professionalism and following the NDLEA standard operating procedure.
Im impressed by the level of compliance with the directive to all our commands and formations to dismantle all drug joints within their areas of responsibility, mop up all illicit substances in such locations and arrest all those culpable.

This will in no small measure take out of the equation, enablers of crime and violence such as illicit drugs, their dealers and all those relying on mind altering substances to disrupt the May 29 inauguration ceremonies across the states and the Federal Capital Territory, Marwa stated.

He charged them to continue with the operational maxim of offensive action against drug cartels and traffickers until the last gram of illicit drug is taken out of the streets and communities across the country.

SO- SAFE FOILS DEADLY OPERATION, RECOVERED ARMS IN OGUN

The operatives of the Ogun State So-Safe Corps has foiled a suspected operation to be deadly attack in Ogun State.

This is contained in the press release issued from the Office of the State Commander of the Corps, Commander (Dr) Soji Ganzallo through the Office of the Director of Information and Public Relations of the Corps, Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf which said that 'the Officers of the Corps on routine patrol at about 20:00hrs on Wednesday, 12th of October, 2022 on patrol in Anifowose community development area (CDA) in Agbagi Village in Ifo Local Government Area when their eyes caught ten Men on 5 different motorbikes suspected to be out for a deadly operation.

Ganzallo when he was contacted to know the next line of action on the suspected hoodlums quickly instructed his men to go after the suspected team and warned them not to terminate any of them accidentally but apprehend them for likely prosecution.

The Zonal Commander Ifo Zonal Command, Assistant Commander Fatai Akinsola swung into action by mobilizing his men led by the Ifo Zonal Operation, SC Oluwole Samuel to give the suspects a hot chase.

At G4 Community Development Area (CDA), the suspects noticed they were been pursued by the men of the So-safe Corp, One of the motorbikes suddenly stopped while two suspects on it confronted the Officers and machetted our officer,. But unfortunately for them, the team was able to reinforce to recover the motorbike of the suspects.

Meanwhile, Ganzallo instructed the team to ensure they bring the suspects to book through prosecution, during hot chasing, a cut to size locally made pistol fell from one of the suspects and they both evade arrest.
The situation was handled professionally and technically due to congestion of area..

Ganzallo noted that for So-Safe Corps, it is better for a suspect(s) to escape arrest than an innocent citizen to be killed.

The DPO, Ifo Division commended the team work of the officers of So-safe for the good job done having visited the scene and advised the team to take the injured Officer immediately to the nearest hospital for treatment.

36 Year Old Lady Collapses as Ikeja Court Sentences Her to Death 😭

A 36-year-old woman, Stella Gilbert, has been sentenced to death by Ikeja high court for stabbing her neighbour to death, Mrs Stella Godwin, during a fight at their residence in Ajegunle, Lagos.

Police save suspected terrorist from Lagos mob

The Lagos State police command on Monday, saved a suspected terrorist, Sanni Gafar, 29, from mob action in the Ijora Badia area of the state.

According to the police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, Gafar was dressed as a woman as of the time of the mob action.

“Preliminary investigation shows that the male suspect, who many alleged disguised as a woman, is Sanni Gafar, aged 29," Hundeyin said.

"He was found with a bag containing three hammers, six screwdrivers, one pair of pliers, one chisel, five spanners, three rolls of black cellophane, cable wires, 20mm bending spring, a pair of black trousers, and a plastic box of clips.

"Investigation is ongoing to ascertain his claim that he is an electrician.”

Anambra LG Boss Suspended Over Wife's Death

Mbazulike Iloka, the newly sworn-in Transition Committee Chairman, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State, has been suspended.

In a suspension letter signed by the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Tonycollins Nwabuwanne, Iloka's suspension is as a result of the sudden death of his wife, Chidiebere, on Sunday.

Part of the letter read, "Following the sad and sudden death of your wife, late Mrs Chidiebere Iloka, on the 7 of August, 2022, there has been a massive public outcry over the circumstances leading to the cause of her death, including alleged possible homicide.

"While you are presumed innocent until the completion of investigations, it has become imperative that you should step aside to allow unfettered investigations and justice."

Boy Accidentally Kills Nigerian Mum In US

A 12-year-old boy has accidentally shot and killed his Nigerian mum, Ayobiyi Cook, at their home in Forestdale, Alabama, United States on Monday.

According to CBSNews, the boy had initially lied to the police about what happened.

"The child originally fabricated a story that detectives determined was not possible. The child eventually gave a true account of what happened,” The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office in Alabama said in a statement.

Investigators say evidence supports that the shooting was unintentional.

Cook's husband, Djuan Cook, in a Facebook post said the deceased was known as "Yo" or "YoYo."

He said that funeral arrangements would be held on August 12. "Orange was Yo's favourite colour so feel free to wear it as we celebrate her life," he wrote.

Identities of the five arrested suspects of Owo church massacre revealed

The identities of the five suspects arrested in connection with the br k of worshippers at St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State, have been unveiled.

Recall that no fewer than 40 worshippers were k with several others inj in the att@ck that occurred on Sunday morning, July 5, 2022.

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Lucky Irabor, on Tuesday, August 9, revealed the suspects are, Idris Abdulmalik Omeiza, Momoh Ojo Abubakar, Aliyu Yusuf Itokpka, Auwal Ishaq Onimisi, and Idris Ojo.

“Omeiza is one of the masterminds of the 5th June att@ck of the Catholic Church in Owo as well as the att@ck on a police station in Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State that led to the k of a policeman as well as we@pons carted away,” the CDS said in Abuja.

Adding that he was arrested on the August 1, 2022 at Eka Okehi Kogi State during an operation with other branches of security. While Idris Ojo, 32, was arrested on August 7, at Aiyetoro C in Ondo State.

“Idris Ojo wasn’t done with his previous activities but was planning other de@dly att@cks along with his cronies before his arrest,” General Irabor added.
