I don’t know who originally put this together, but Happy Thanksgiving ya’ll!

Prayers for those working to keep us all safe today while we celebrate, and for their families who are rearranging schedules and/or having to celebrate without them.

Our household is in that boat this year too, and you are seen and appreciated 💗

22 years have gone in the blink of an eye.

The impact of the lives lost on this day, will never be forgotten… and neither will the names of the heroes who rose to meet the threat.

Reluctant Homeschooler
By Tiffany S

Homeschool... there was a time when that word struck fear into my heart. I will never forget the day my husband came home from work and told me we are pulling our kids out of school. In the moment, I thought he had absolutely lost his mind. Our youngest child had just started school a few weeks prior, and I was finally going to have room to breathe. I could have the house clean for more than a moment. I could eat without sharing my food. I could go to the bathroom alone.

Our oldest daughter was being bullied because she was the only black girl in the small Christian school the kids were enrolled in. She had gotten into a fight with someone who called our special needs son stupid. She tried to explain that was rude and not true, but the significantly older boy continued to speak very hurtful and derogatory words. My daughter is a little too much like me. She lost all ability to reason and decked the kid. She knocked him out cold with one swing. My husband picked the kids up from school that day and they never went back.

As our schoolyear gears up, I am knee deep in printing curriculum. I am lesson planning and preparing for another year of educating our kids. I sit here surrounded by laundry as I reflect on how much God has taught me over the last year. When my husband told me that he had pulled our kids out of school, I was both furious and terrified. I had barely graduated from high school and didn't feel equipped to educate three young minds. I wanted them to be able to go to college. I wanted to go to work to help supplement our income because we live paycheck to paycheck. I had life all planned out, and I was NOT keen on having my plans changed.

During my quiet time one morning God brought the story of Moses to mind. Like me, Moses was insecure and didn't trust his ability to carry out the task God had given him. He hemmed and hawed, begged and pleaded, and then flat out told God he couldn't do this. I had spent time ugly crying and even yelling at God because I didn't want to homeschool. I didn't think that I could do an effective job of educating them. I didn't want to be solely responsible for their failures in life. In the year and a half since I was thrust into this journey as a stay-at-home wife, mother, and homeschool mom I have learned to filter my fears and insecurity through True vs Truth.

Like God equipped Moses, he promised to equip me if I would surrender to His will. He will equip you too. Is there an area of your life where you are letting fear hold you back from total surrender?

We are heartbroken to inform you of the death of Trooper Jacques F. Rougeau, Jr. of the Pennsylvania State Police in Pennsylvania.

End of Watch: Saturday, June 17, 2023

Trooper Jay Rougeau was shot and killed by a wanted man near the intersection of Swamp Road and Baumgardner Drive in Walker Township shortly after 3:00 pm.

At about 11:00 am, the subject had entered the parking lot of the Pennsylvania State Police's Troop G, Lewistown Station, and shot several patrol cars using a large caliber hunting rifle. The man fled the scene and called 911 several times as they searched for him.

The man then shot and critically wounded a Pennsylvania State Police lieutenant in Mifflintown Borough at about 12:45 pm before fleeing again. Shortly before 3:00 pm, the man was located in a shopping center in Walker Township and then fled into a nearby wooded area where he and Trooper Rougeau were both killed during a shootout.

Trooper Rougeau had served with the Pennsylvania State Police for almost three years. He is survived by his wife.

We made it in for Police Week this past Sunday, and explored most of the “most heard of” locations. The Pipe Bands however, were undoubtedly what stood out to us the most both leading to, and during, the on-site Memorial that evening.

Our prayers and hearts are with all the survivors as this week comes to an end… though many ceremonies are over, our memory for your loved ones and their sacrifices will live on.

I recently listened to Jinger Vuolo's book (Becoming Free Indeed) and found it to be well and simply written about the road that she has been, and is, walking down.
The "Deconstruction" movement is undoubtedly a sad and dangerous one... anytime that people are driven away from the Truth of the Gospel because of the misrepresentation and twisting of its truth by man is heartbreaking. The work of "Disentangling" the Bible from manmade additions is not an easy or painless task.
This episode of the Cultish Podcast, along with the one that follows it (I believe it's titled "How to Disentangle From Fundamentalism") is something I think would be hugely beneficial to listen to. Whether you are walking the path yourself, or are trying to love and come alongside someone who is, this is something we need to be paying attention to.

My friends, this podcast episode was amazing! Shoutout to Mama Bear Apologetics for the incredible work they are doing.
BLM is something that our LEO families especially (though it is creeping into society everywhere) are being faced with and impacted by regularly.
I highly recommend giving this conversation a listen, because it was beautifully done.
Also, if you have not read the Mama Bear Apologetics book (or the book Mama Bear Apologetics Guide to Sexuality, I *highly* recommend them!)

It is a demanding role, but one that is desperately needed.
If you are not capable or prepared to be all of these things to the best of your ability, you have no business being in Law Enforcement.

Merry Christmas from The Sheepdog Wife Podcast to you and your families. 💗
God bless you all, especially those who are working this weekend and their families who are celebrating at home.

🖤💙🖤

Lord, thank you for giving us another year to grow, learn about you, and celebrate the gift that is Jesus Christ’s birth, death, and resurrection. I pray that this coming year would be one of revival, repentance, and healing for the world.
Please protect our Peacekeepers, and all First Responders, as they work tirelessly (and often thanklessly) to keep us safe. Be with the families of those officers who have been lost or injured this year, Lord, and give them the comfort and peace that can only be described as having come from You during these darkest of trials.
I pray we all remember the reason we pause to celebrate during this season, even amidst the bustle and strain of crazy schedules and obligations. Amen.

What a beautiful testimony. I remember praying for this Officer and his family when the incident happened last year… to see how far the Lord has brought him in healing since then is amazing! How wonderful to see how much further he will go, and what God’s future plans are for him (and his wife)!

Mike the Cop nailed this. I know my husband has had these moments! Heck, I’ve had them as a Mom after being up with sick kids (waking from one room of my house to another 🤦🏻‍♀️). Do you have a “name” for this phenomenon?

A Sheepdog Never Retires.

At some point in time, the young sheepdog becomes the old sheepdog. He can't run as fast anymore, if at all. His claws have been worn smooth, his few teeth are no longer sharp. His joints ache, he is no longer slender and muscular, his hearing and eye sight are both no longer acute or keen. He has passed on his watch over the flock to the younger pups who he has taught and raised. Occasionally, he passes some of his pups while he wanders amongst the flock, those pups who remember him present themselves with courtesy and respect. The really young pups just ignore him, not knowing who he is or recognize the scars from battle he has earned from fighting the wolf.

But, when the wolf arrives, the one thing that has not left the old sheepdog is his spirit; he still yearns for the fight with the wolf. The younger sheepdogs rush to protect the flock and despite the wear of time and age, the older sheepdog rushes in alongside with them.

There are times, when the old sheepdog confronts the wolf by himself, alone. The wolf appears and the younger sheepdogs, for whatever reason are not around - they can't be everywhere at once. The wolf circles and snarls, he isnt afraid of the old dog. Yet, it is still within him, for the Sheepdog to rise up, take a stance, bare his teeth and growl. He will still take on that wolf, for he still protects the flock and will as he always has, to the very end of his life if necessary.

He does this because it is who he is, what he is, a Sheepdog.

A year ago yesterday, the last of our belongings were loaded into boxes and moving trucks, and a year ago today they were dropped off at our new home.
Words can’t really fully describe how quickly this year has passed, or the awe I have in regard to how smooth God made the transition for us over all.
What I remember most though, is the overwhelming peace we had despite all the unknowns, crying through sermons on our first handful of Sundays visiting churches because we had left something wonderful back home, and then crying some more when God made it clear where we were to be (and how wonderful this new church family was/is as well).
We have made incredible friends, and are further along in putting down our roots than I had ever hoped or dreamed to be only one year in.
This sign was hanging in our old kitchen, and it’s in our dining room now (I love having a dining room!)… I bought it after Luke’s accident in 2019 because it just seemed fitting. All the unknown regarding the pursuit of his career change. It’s proven to time and again to be a good reminder, and to make me smile, as we have ventured down this path we were called to.
Happy anniversary to our new home 💗

It’s been a whirlwind! I didn’t mean to be silent on social media for this long (even though our first season of episodes is all wrapped up), but October is perhaps our families absolute busiest month. It includes multiple birthdays, as well as our wedding anniversary. We hit nine years married this year! Our lives have changed so very much since then (from becoming parents, to a huge career and locale change), but it’s been amazing to see what God is doing!
Indulge me ladies, I’d love to see a photo from your wedding day!!!

So many lives were lost that day, and sadly to this day even more lives have been impacted and/or lost from health conditions as a result of service and sacrifice to save as many as possible that day and the days following.
Never forget. Never stop being grateful.

21 years ago tonight, nearly 3000 people, including 23 members of the NYPD, spent their final night with their families and loved ones.

This evening, as the WTC Memorial “Tribute in Light” shines over NYC, our thoughts are with the families & friends of every soul lost on 9/11.

09/09/2022

May we the 343 firefighters, 72 law enforcement officers, and 8 EMS heroes who lost their lives on September 11th, 2001. Help us honor our fallen heroes with the 9/11 Memorial Challenge Coins.

It’s time! The interview episode with author Melissa Humes is live, and I couldn’t be more excited to share it with you all.
This really turned out to be, in my opinion anyway, a wonderful conversation. So: grab a cup of tea (or whatever your comfort beverage is) and sit down to “join” us as we talk about her journey to becoming an Author, a LEO Wife, and the Faith that she has clung to through it all.

Not everyone’s Bible will look like this. Some study, absorb, and remember differently than others.
For me, using a highlighter helps to guide my eyes and retain focus longer on the specific passage(s) I’m working through.
This particular Bible has been with me for quite some time now. I can’t recall exactly when I bought it, but it was my first journaling Bible, and was my first “grown up” Bible I purchased for myself. I was so excited when it arrived, with my name on the cover, fresh, clean, and with new book smell.
That has all faded with time. My name is hardly visible anymore from wear. Somewhere along the way something was spilled on it (of course unintentionally), that warped the cover and wrinkled quite a few pages. Some people may have replaced it after that, but I couldn’t. I have record of every scripture my husband sent me (which he did daily) since before we were married or even engaged, in this Bible.
It is with me for all of my at-home book and personal study time.
I treasure having this record to look back through, and hope that someday when I’m gone the girls might as well. It is so important to ensure we remember how God has worked in our lives in the past, for it bolsters our Faith and Trust for the future.

Week 9 of our study is here!! I feel like the last half of this book is just flying by.
This week’s chapter is on “Single” Parenting - not true single parenting, but that status of making nearly all decisions/choices, and boundaries for the kiddos solo just due to your husband’s amount of overtime, and inaccessibility by phone. I think all families have encountered this at one time or another if children are involved.

Pop over to your favorite podcast service, you can find us on Amazon Music, Anchor, Apple Podcasts, Podbean, and Spotify (if you haven’t already, hit that like/follow/subscribe button!) and listen to this weeks episode ❤️

I’m (ironically) flying solo this week, but Sabrina will be back for week 10! That will be the final chapter in our study, and Sabrina’s final week with us ‘regularly’ although I certainly hope to have her back in the future. The week after next is the big interview with the author herself, Melissa Humes, and I couldn’t be more excited!
If you have any questions for Melissa during that interview, please send them to me now, at my email address, or on social media.

Do/should Christian marriages stand out from the crowds of society and secular relationships? The only answer to this question is a resounding: YES! This week Sabrina and I talk about some Biblical aspects of , practical things to help foster a healthy relationship, and what we gathered from this weeks chapter of our book (about Marriage!) studying 1 Corinthians 13.
Stop in and listen to our discussion, we are so happy to have you!
Our question for this week:
- What are some practical ways you keep your LEO spouse prioritized, despite the schedule differences you face with his job?
