What aspirations did you have when you were younger that you thought were WAY out of reach?
When I was young quite often I would think “imagine working there, how cool would that be?”
I mean, the BBC is a worldwide organisation that regardless of your opinion, is very well respected. Anyone would be made up to have that on their CV. It opens many doors.
This is a cup that accidentally found it’s way into my bag. There are some things in life that are worth a slap on the wrist for.

As soon as I managed to bag my first job there I realised that we build our own glass ceiling, swerve the building and crack on making it happen.

Weird isn't it? Nothing is free anymore! NOTHING! Everything you know and love is slowly turning into a subscription you get a free trial for and forget about. Podcasts are FREE! Get on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Google Podcast or on PlayerFM

I love money

I LOVE MONEY! You Should too. Finances should be something we talk about and seek help if we're struggling. I'm making it my mission to arm people with the tools they need to make their money work best for them. Martin Lewis has been instrumental to my stable finances so it only seems fitting to try and get him on. If anyone can help with that then I'll be swapping for your name in secret Santa, or if you know any brilliant Liverpool based personal finance experts hit me up!

Snoop Dogg even had one in 2018! Comedy is the most popular category in podcasting, ahead of entertainment and talk shows. Listening to a podcast isn't always about learning new things or serious conversations. Listeners are now tuning in to shows to relax, unwind and be entertained. Although feel free to tune in for whatever you want really. There's probs a show about cats if that's your bag.

That's 7.1 million people in the UK! Don't get me started on US where over 50% of the American population has listened to a podcast before. The stats are growing year on year and showing no signs of slowing down

If you have a smartphone find out what app you have where you can find podcasts such as the podcast app on Apple or Spotify, jump on, search your interests and be open minded to discovering new ones too.
See what all the fuss is about.

Yesterday was the 5 year anniversary of my first job in TV. I've finally learnt that we should be shouting about our achievements and not hiding them. I wish I told more people about the cool stuff I did when I was working in TV but I didn't because I didn't want to be judged or 'found out' because I felt like I had blagged my way in. Which is exactly what I did, but aren't we all?
Receiving all the lovely messages of support for this podcast has made me realise that people are nice and we should be shouting loud and proud much more.

Make it your mission to tell someone this weekend. 🥳

social vid

PURE SOP ALERT! 😍
It's been one whole week since I launched the social media for Working Class Waffle and since then I've had so many people sending me luck, opinions on the podcast, ideas, potential guests... it's been amazing. I'm so over the moon with how it's gone so far and felt the direct impact of people taking the time to pass on their thoughts to say nice things. It's nice to be nice and I'm going to make more of a conscious effort to pay that forward because it's so motivating having other people get behind me, even strangers.
Anyway, you're all boss and I'm very excited to launch in the new year 🤠

Last week I recorded an episode with Irene Afful chatting all about her upbringing through the Toxteth riots, school life, starting her career and working her way up in the police. Incredible story I’m really excited to share.
Anyone who struggles with resilience should be all over this one.
There’s also some tips for what you can do to build up your resilience too.

Really exciting to be able to show this, but it’s going to take a while for me to stop feeling sick at speaking to the camera like I’m some kind of Alan Titchmarsh.

Going forward I’ll do a more structured plan for the video as this was a bit impromptu and clearly just a load of random shots thrown together.

P.s it doesn’t look like I’m going to stop saying ‘erm’ any time soon.

Hope you like it x

Let me know what you think 😁

Hellooo
Welcome to my side hustle!

Working Class Waffle is a podcast produced and hosted by me, Emma Cain.

I’ll be going live in the new year after I’ve got 5 episodes recorded and ready to go.
2 down, 3 more to go!

Until then, I’ll be documenting getting this off the ground whilst I have a full time job, because it’s hard graft. Lots of late nights, maybe not blood but defo sweat and tears.

Working Class Waffle will become a library of Working class success stories and episodes discussing topics not taught at school and lifestyle such as; managing your finances, personal brand and resilience.

I’m hoping the podcast will be a resource for listeners that don’t have access to either positive role models or key information for personal development, BUT anyone will be able to take value from the conversations.

I’ve managed to do some cool stuff since starting my career so I’ll also be sharing little nuggets of advice/experiences I’ve had along the way too.

I’m only 26 so hopefully lots of time to learn as I go and share that too.

We live constantly feeling judged for what we do, say and don’t do or say and I’m victim of that too (which is why I had this idea 18 months ago and didn’t do anything properly until recently) so expect lots of ugly selfies, honest opinions and genuine questions.

Thanks for reading/liking/supporting 🥳

I’m on Instagram, Twitter and you can grab me on LinkedIn by searching my name.

Em x
