Happy birthday to an unsung hero, Larry Itliong who was essential in bringing justice to farm workers across the nation.

Mural by Eliseo Art Silva is the largest Filipino-American mural & located in historic Filipinotown in Los Angeles.

“I have the ability to make that white man know I am just as mean as anybody in this world,” Itliong says on the tape to students in 1976, a year before he died at age 63. “I could make him think, and I could make them recognize that I’m a mean son of a bitch in terms of my direction fighting for the rights of Filipinos in this country. Because I feel we are just as good as any of them. I feel we have the same rights as any of them. Because in that Constitution, it said that everybody has equal rights and justice. You’ve got to make that come about. They are not going to give it to you.”

“330 days to confirm what we already knew. 330 days of reliving the trauma of George’s murder, fearing that the system would let us down again, and mourning so many more that we lost. For a murder witnessed by millions. This isn’t proof the system works. It’s proof of how broken it is. Because it took us this long, and this much attention. Until we have a world where our communities can thrive free from fear, there will be no justice.” — Black Lives Matter, on Twitter.

“I’m going to put up a fight every day because I’m not just fighting for George anymore. I’m fighting for everybody around this world.” - Philonise Floyd, George Floyd’s Brother

“What I saw today is a pivotal moment, it's a chance for America to take a turn in the right direction and right a lot of wrongs … so that we don't keep adding to these names." - Brandon Williams, George Floyd’s Nephew
