An adaptogen is defined as a substance (commonly a plant extract) that can increase the body’s resistance to the damaging effects of stress and promote restoration.

Adaptogens are commonly and easily found in herbs, roots, and other plants substances.

The most well known ones are ginseng, ashwagandha, and mushrooms.

Adaptogens can be found in many other plants.

The stress doesn’t have to be “stress”. It can be stress from anxiety, trauma, fatigue, or infections. Anything that can stress the body.

We know we’ve been a way for a while…

But we are so excited to announce that we have rebranded and will be launching new podcasts soon (stay tuned for more official dates)

While we loved our name Casual Vegans Podcast, it unfortunately was getting us a lot of negative comments and while we remain plant forward / casually vegan, we also want to be able to expand into other topics and discuss (without feeling/getting hate) animal based products.

We are excited for this rebrand, excited to be able to discuss MANY different topics and bring you our views!!

A Summer Favorite. Make your own salad. If you are vegan. You can add Chic’n strips while your meat eating friends can have regular chicken. Or one of my favorites is the large portobello mushrooms grilled with vegan blue cheese while others can have grilled steak. Happy summer!!!

Now this is a good salad. I found this pasta salad on the website Vegan Bowls. It is a Greek Pasta Salad. It is really very good and it goes well with some fresh salad mix. I didn’t have any fresh asparagus so I left it out but the next time you see this salad it will definitely have some asparagus

Massaged Kale Salad recipe 1 bunch of curly kale, olive oil, lemon juice, salt 1. Wash and Remove large stems of kale, dry well, tear into bite size pieces. 2. Pour olive oil , lemon juice, salt onto kale. 3. Now to massage the kale - squeeze the kale to work in the oil, lemon juice and salt for about 1 to 2 minutes. This will break down the fibers in the kale making it softer. I normally let it rest for about 30 minutes before I add the extras then it is ready to serve. Extras. The salad shown had vegan feta cheese, dried cranberries, and pecans. You can also add roasted butternut squash or any dried fruit, and nuts you enjoy Salad dressing - maple syrup, Apple cider vinegar, olive oil

This is a continuous running conversation at my house. What Makes a”GOOD” salad? Now being from the south. There are many types of salads - jello, various meat: chicken, tuna, ham, seafood, etc, then there are the staple salads - potato, pasta -which is different from macaroni salad, tomato, cucumber, onion, kale, spinach and the standard toss salad. I thought I would have to give up chips and dip when I started this journey. But I had a thought this month when we were talking about swaps and converting recipes. I looked for a dip (dry mix) which you would add to sour cream that didn’t have dairy in it. Found it. A ranch dip mix from Kroger. Yes amazing no milk in it So i headed over to the sour cream section but no vegan sour cream. UGH. My heart sank. But there was a 16 oz container of Kite Hill container of almond milk yogurt. So I thought go for it what is the worst that can happen. It is too thin and I have salad dressing. I think a win either way. It turned out great!!!!! It thickened up nicely. -I had doubts because it was thin at first- here is what you need: ranch dip mix - READ the label & 16 oz container of unsweetened plain almond milk yogurt. Combine and refrigerate until set. Then enjoy
