Finally reached my goal for Season 0 as a solo queue tank/support with around a 60-65% winrate! Achieved this by focusing on learning what to pick and tricks with regards to my role:
Heroes I used
1. Alistar - My most played. Alistar is OP this patch. Picked him whenever I felt lazy to think on what to pick. Focus on clearing waves early and playing passively. Build Deadman's Plate and you're good to go.
2. Malphite - I played Malphite whenever I needed to play another role (Mid/Offlane). Didn't feel really dominant with him other than getting game-changing ults in the late game which led to Aces and won games.
3. Braum - I initially started with a very low winrate with Braum. However, I significantly improved my winrate with him by focusing on two main points. The first is picking him along with a long ranged, attack speed focused ADC (Jinx/Ashe). This, along with a special focus on landing Q's and auto attacks to trigger Braum's passive (which I failed to realize when I started playing him at first), significantly improved my winrate.
4. Janna - I picked Janna when Alistar was picked or if I had a weak ADC laner (i.e. Kai'Sa) since Janna can bully from Level 1. I used two builds: first is the Ardent Censer build to assist my attack speed reliant ADC in damage. Second is the Luden's Echo route when I had Jhin or Draven (non-attack speed ADC) or if I had a self-sustaining ADC (Ezreal) to which I can roam more comfortably given the MS boost of Luden's.
5. Blitzcrank - just hook and punch and ult. Useful pick against enchanter supports.
Shortlist of Tricks I used:
1. Baiting enemies using a rushed Locket Enchant or the Heal battle spell.
2. Telling my teammates to deploy Rift Herald ONLY when there's another objective we can take (i.e. Dragon)
3. Spam pinging my ADC for 'Danger' or to 'Retreat from enemy ADC/Support' whenever I wanted to backup my other teammates.
4. Buying some skins to motivate myself hahaha
5. More or less followed the algorithm of picking Poke vs. Disengage lineups, picking Disengage vs. All-ins, picking All-ins against Poke lineups. Healing is just a secondary category as there is too much damage in the game to out-sustain.
