PART VI | HALF A CENTURY OF MEMORIES

A Heartwarming Homecoming at KNHS

In the heart of Kaong National High School (KNHS), where the sound of honking vehicles and chattering crowds create a lively backdrop, a moment filled with nostalgia, laughter and shared stories, as classmates reunited not just to share their past, but the journeys they had taken since leaving this school.

Alumni from various batches came together at KNHS on December 29, 2024 to celebrate a momentous reunion. Contributing to the school’s history and the enduring bonds forged within its façade.

“Capturing this type of moment, I felt happy and nervous,” Marc Clarence Dy said as he captured memories that would last a lifetime. “It's my first time attending this homecoming yet I felt welcomed,” he added.

The celebration began with a motorcade parade by batch 1996, creating a joyous atmosphere as they arrived at the school. Former students, teachers, and community members filled the school grounds, reminiscing about their shared experiences as they met with their old classmates once again.

As everyone gathered in the school court, former principal Ms. Vicky Reyes gave a heartfelt speech, encouraging everyone to cherish the joy of reunion. “We should not let our joy be taken in this celebration," she declared, her voice filled with warmth.

Her speech was followed by a former teacher, Mr. Antonio Ramos, who captivated everyone's attention as he shared the story of the three original teachers who laid the groundwork for the institution of building this school.

“We were happy when our sacrifices led to this,” Ramos says, passion evident in his voice. “I'm really grateful for this blessing that our place has a high school till this day, creating more memories for the generations to come,” he added.

Alumni President Atty. Zaldy Ambon also shared his inspiring journey. Telling the story of how he became a Municipal Major Officer as the audience listens intently, learning more about his life challenges and lessons.

“I salute everyone who gave me the strength and inspired me to become what I am today,” Atty. Zaldy Ambon says, his eyes sparkling with gratitude. “I wouldn't be able to do this if it wasn't for the school I love,” he added.

Master Teacher I Ms. Josephine Minto also took the stage, sharing her insights on the importance of perseverance and humility. “No matter how high you achieve you should always be humble,” she said as her words resonated with the audience, creating a solidarity between.

Another speaker who comes in front is Ms. Zenaida Medrana, who taught subjects ranging from Trigonometry to Spanish. Her witty anecdotes about her former students and their antics brought smiles to everyone’s faces, she also encouraged everyone to dream high and always ask for the guidance of God.

The event also paid tribute to long-serving educators, with Loreta Canlong, Eleanor Dimalanta, and Alicia M. Obrador being recognized for their decades of commitment in teaching. As their dedication exemplified the heart of the school, inspiring future generations of students and teachers alike.

Adding to the celebration, alumni show their creativity through booths and a singing contest. The friendly competition reveals the talents of various batches such as singing and throughout the performances, a loud cheering of the audience fills the air, igniting a sense of camaraderie through the atmosphere.

Throughout the day, various awards for the batch were also given. Including recognition for the early birds, the most generous, cooperative, organized, followed by the best in outfits and motorcade.

As the reunion drew to a close, Former Office in-charge, Ms. Cristina Andaya wished for continued growth in the school community. “I hope for more students to come to this school as it is a big benefit to them and for us to continue this history,” she stated, her voice filled with humility.
