I sat down with Shane Vitko of the Deviant Gentleman Podcast and holy cow, he did not disappoint.

Shane grew up in Boston, as he would call it, a hoodlum. He make not secret that his favorite pastime was getting into bar fights and getting black out drunk. This obviously caused numerous run-ins with the law but surprisingly none of that caught up with him until after his time in the US Army.

A prolific drug abuser in his past life, he's now been sober for 3 1/2. But it took him going to prison for 5 years and a violation of his parole for another 18 month stent that finally flipped the switch that he wanted a better life.

He spent a couple of years in and out of rehab facilities trying to get things figured out. Regularly relapsing but refusing to fail, he'd go back. His tough Boston roots taught him that he was no quitter and would beat this thing called addiction.

Eventually ending up in LA, where he started to find purpose in very unlikely places, AA groups with Hollywood elites and acting in a play. He realized that if people like this could overcome their addictions, he could too. He made a commitment to become vulnerable and let down his defenses. And for an extremely tough man like Shane, this was the toughest challenge of his life.

Shane's story has touched so many lives in unmeasurable ways. And in my eyes, this is the ultimate give back.

If you are struggling with addiction, there is hope. There are people out there who've been through it all and want to help. Shane found his help in AA.

I sit down with a very talented Houston Artist for some 1v1 Artist Talk and try to hold my own. I don't know much about art itself but I know what I like and her art inspires me. We talk Entrepreneurial Mindset and what it takes to be your own boss, create, and build a legacy.

We have a great conversation about the process she goes through when she is creating. As well as her deep love and appreciation for art itself and the act of creation. She discusses some of inspirations such as & Jean-Michel Basquiat.

We take a small detour at some point during the show discussing extremely important issues in our country like prison reform, racism, antiracism, social change and the need for open conversation. We even briefly discuss Black History Month 2022.

Melissa wasn't brought on to discuss these topics, but with the nature of the show, and her telling me she went to college at UTSA for Criminal Justice with a focus on prison reform, I couldn't avoid the topic (considering my own past with the corrections system).

I find Melissa to be a delightful person. She an inspiration for uninhibited self expression.

KC Boutiette is The Godfather of Speed Skating. He is arguable the reason why ice speed skating has so many athletes that started on inlines. Because he was the first.

Back in 1994 KC earned a spot on the Olympic Long Track Speed Skating team in Lillehammer Norway after barely skating on ice for month. After that, he also competed in the 1998 (Nagano Japan), 2002 (Salt Lake City Utah) and 2006 (Torino Italy) Olympic Games.

I lovingly tease him about what it's like to be the greatest there ever was to not win the big race. But really, who KC is transcends individual awards. What he's done for the sport as a pioneer go far beyond any medal. Sure, he would have loved to have an Olympic medal. But what he's got is a legacy.
