Community members came together to carry on the work of Mr. Willie Dortch.

After his passing last year the community is left with big shoes to fill in keeping the Cemetery in good condition.

Mr. Dortch played an important role in keeping up with the burial plots and helping families bury loved ones in close proximity of each other.

Mr. Dortch had extensive knowledge of the Century Cemetery and dedicated a lot of his time to keeping the cemetery in good condition.

The Century Cemetery has graves over 100 years old of past Century residents.

Before 2020 working from home was unheard of. But businesses were forced to adopt the work from home model when the pandemic hit.

These last 2 years have proved that technology has advanced enough to make working from home a real thing.

Now businesses are ok with their employees working from home and people are demanding the ability to be able to work from home.

This has created a great opportunity for people living in small rural areas like Century where the only job that pays a decent wage with benefits is the prison or nursing home.

If we wanted to get a job making $20+ an hour we would have to drive 100 miles back and forth to Pensacola everyday.

But now times have changed…

In January of 2020 the town made the decision to close the bridge due to its failing condition. In a recent council meeting it was said the bridge could cost around $1,000,000 to repair.

Council President Louis Gomez seeks to bring career & personal development training to 15 youth ages (13-19) in Century on July 22nd.

All attendees will receive $10 cash and a free lunch.

After receiving a $3 million dollar grant from the state of Florida the Town of Century works to acquire the community center on Jefferson avenue from its rightful owner.

At the 6.22.22 town council meeting citizens of Century showed up to voice their opinions. Questions were raised on who actually owns the building, what will happen with the funds, will the community be involved, and what can be done to make sure the funds are actually used to restore the building.
