This is Foxy Island (pictured summer last year).

Our goal is to now campaign to transform this land and to help it live up to its full potential.

We want to transform this area into a space for everyone, to sponsor flowerbeds, more trees and other attractions.

If we do not improve and make the most out of it, there is a strong chance it will be carved up for building houses in the future.

Discovering the History of an Estate

Farnton.org is a project and website dedicated to exploring and researching the story of Farringdon, Sunderland as well as the surrounding areas and other aspects of local history.

Although seemingly just another post-war housing estate, our research has been able to piece together a history in the area stretching over 600 years, which had largely fell out of modern records and been forgotten by locals.

History is ultimately built and told by the stories of people who lived it. By rebuilding the story of Farringdon and similar places, our goal is to reinvigorate interest and pride in their local identity. In doing so, we aim to help people understand that Farringdon is not a place without note and has its place in local heritage.
