One perspective is from Michelle Alexander, the author of The New Jim Crow, and the other is John Pfaff, author of Locked In. One of the most visible disparities that stems from systematic racism is the wealth gap between black/African American and white families. The fight against racism isn't one that is only fought in the hearts and minds of all Americans, it's one that needs to be addressed in the systems of America itself.

The already large racial wealth gap between white and black American households grew even wider after the Great Recession. Targeted policies are necessary to reverse this deepening divide.
