Postcards from Dal Lake.
A shikara ride on the Dal lake is a must do activity when visiting Srinagar. With gorgeous views like these we highly recommend it. One can get a glimpse of the local life on the lake. From the floating garden to the cultivation of Nadru one can enjoy these vistas while sipping khawa and buttery cookies.

TRAVELLING WITH KIDS TO DANAKIL DEPRESSION, ETHIOPIA ☀️🔥
of.Antaos did the unthinkable and took little Evie to Danakil depression, the hottest places on earth. It’s no way a kid friendly place but here are some things that worked for us to make it enjoyable for Evie.

☀️Hydrate, hydrate: we made sure we carried plenty of fluids from water to juices to ORS. We were fine that Evie didn’t eat much at meals but we made sure she drank enough fluids to ensure hydration.

☀️Sun protection: the sun is harsh, so in order to protect the little ones skin we dressed her in loose cotton clothes, a cap (preferably with a neck cover), sun glasses. We used an SPF 50 sunscreen for added protection.

☀️Mask: Dallol and Erta Ale spews out toxic gases so mask up. We were fine with the regular cloth mask but we used a mask with carbon filters for Evie’s so as to not trigger her allergies.

☀️Portable Bidet: this one was for all of us. It made answering nature’s call in nature much easier. Evie had fun using it as well.

We also carried Evie’s sleeping bag, air pillows, wet wipes and other toiletries to make her feel comfortable in the wild.

for your trip to Hong Kong and Macau

HOTELS:
🏨 Butterfly on LKF, Cental
🏨 Hotel Madera, Kowloon.

🇭🇰 DAY1:
Arrived and Checked into Butterfly on LFK. Rode the historic tram upto Victoria’s peak and went for the Peak Walk.

🇲🇴 DAY 2:
Took the morning Turbojet ferry to Macau and returned on the last Cotai ferry back to Hong Kong.

🇭🇰 DAY 3:
Travelled to Causeway Bay and Shau Kei Wan to catch some squid for dinner. An offbeat activity in Hong Kong

🇭🇰 DAY 4:
Boarded the ferry to Lamma Island from Central for a day of hiking. Returned via a Junk Boat to Aberdeen on Hong Kong island

🇭🇰 DAY 5:
Visited a Michelin star restaurant for a Chinese style brunch and did some street shopping

🇭🇰 DAY 6:
Took the Gondola to visit the Tian Tan Buddha on Lantau Island. As well as explored the fishing village on Tai O

Free day to explore and shop on the streets of Kowloon.

Let’s go for a picnic in the rains.

Yes that’s exactly what we did one rainy afternoon. We picked up some delicious snacks from and enjoyed IN a stream.

Thus elusive restaurant is open only for a limited period and gets sold out pretty soon. The grounds are vast where one can enjoy this treat.

So what are you waiting for? Pre order your snack before the season ends.

Have you been to the Atlantis of Goa?

Every year the rains play peek-a-boo with the forgotten village of Curdi. Come summer and the remnants of the bygone village are exposed to the sun.

Most people visit this village during the months of summer to bask in the bygone beauty.
But the rains lend their own magic to this place. Don’t you agree?

SHOTS IN THE DARK. -New moon night at Lakshadweep.

When the electricity goes out on the whole island of Agatti, you take advantage of this zero light pollution to capture the night sky.

Me and experimented with different setting on our phone to capture the dazzling sky.

FAVOURITE CAMPSITES IN MEGHALAYA:

Travellers Nest, Kongthong: Perched above the village of Kongthong, this village stay envelops you with calm and serenity. It also offers a choice of ground tents and traditional styled locals huts with an outhouse.

Sa-I-Mika Resorts: Is huge!! With plenty of place to stretch your legs and what kore it has a small water on the grounds. Along with this, there’s a duck pond and a play area to keep the little ones entertained. The restaurant provides a host of mouthwatering local food.

Travellers Nest, Mawphanlur: Camping by the lake is what’s on offer here. The rolling boulders and hills adds to the magic of the campsite. Be prepared for a cool night if the weather is overcast.

Umkhakoi camp, Mawlyngbna: the rocky campground makes for an interesting choice especially if you have rooftop camper. The charm of this campsite is at night when you get to sleep near the twinkling lights of Bangladesh on a clear night.

Loomkyntoor Resort: Located close to the famous Phe Phe falls, this grounds boast of a swimming pool and even has cottages with plunge pools. We enjoyed the comfort of the cottage during our bad weather days of the trip.

All these camp grounds are kid friendly. With clean restrooms and hot showers. If camping isn’t your style you can stay in individual room in these places. The rooms come with your basic amenities.

Day and Night at an Agro-Tourism stay.

Agro-tourism was started in 2005 and Maharashtra is the best state in India to experience it.
This form of tourism benefits the farmers and the tourist alike. The farmers get a secondary income while the tourist can experience the rustic life of a village.

We had this wonderful experience
We loved:
🏠the spaced out A-frame cabins that offered grand view of the lake.
🥗 Farm Fresh, made-to-order food from local produce
🏔 The wide open space to stretch our legs.
🎞 The outdoor cinema experience under the stars
🦜The peacocks and barking deer that frolicked on the hills
🍓 Exploring the various field of strawberry, turmeric and other veggies
🐶 Interacting with the locals especially the doggies Max, Tango and Charlie

Overall we loved the Agro-Tourism experience

WOULD YOU TAKE A STROLL ALONG THIS BALCONY? 🚶‍♀️🚶⛰

Well, this one didn’t have any handrail. One misstep and we would be down on the canyon floor!

We thought we’d just walk for an hour but ended up spending the whole day. With multiple breaks we completed the hike.

Nambung National Park -part 1
of.antao went galavanting in the dessert.

The Pinnacles formed a reverse oasis near the town Cervantes. And the limestone pillars were a perfect backdrop for a game of peek-a-boo.

The best way to explore this park is by 🚶 but if you are pressed for time then a 🚗 will do.

.of.antao in Penguin Island

This 12.5 hector island is home to more than 30 species of birds.

The varied Geographical feature of the island such as coves, notches, beaches, sea caves and natural cliffs makes the perfect roosting ground for the birds.

The short walking trails loops around the island and offers several look out to observe the wildlife.

It’s close proximity from Perth makes it a good day for a wildlife encounter.

No no, that’s not snow. But the travertine terraces of Pamukkale. This world heritage site is popular with tourist due to the hot springs located in the area that act as natural spas 🧖‍♀️🧖

Hiking on Perito Moreno Glacier .of.antao

Flash back to a gloomy day in Argentina, where we set out to hike the mighty glacier with 🏔🎿

The hike was almost cancelled due to snowfall as it can be a little treacherous walking on the glacier in these conditions.

But strapped on our crampons and had fun on the ice 🧊❄️😃

Hoping to go a glacier trek soon if Covid be so kind to shoo away 🤧

Picnic at Eco Beach - .of.antao

A small cove that’s is fringed by the Jāli protected forest on one side, is an ideal place to have a picnic. It also includes a children play area in case you get bored on the beach.

Being a weekday, we had the entire place to ourselves.

What we loved about the place:
-the solitude
- the play area
- the rocky outcrop
- clean toilets

What we wished it had
- a snack or refreshment stand
- a calmer sea for a swim

Entry fee: Rs. 40pp. Evie was free. Do carry a photo id which is needed to enter the park.

Picnic at Thonsepar

Thonsepar or Coconut island is a columnar rhyolite lava island off the coast of Malpe beach.

A trip to the island cost Rs. 400 per person return journey. You get one hour to spend on the island but we convinced the captain that we would like to take the last boat out 😛

The island is plastic free hence food was packed in lunch boxes. The island does have a small snack counter which had some refreshing lemonade for a hot day 🥵

Our essentials for a day on the island 🏝
1. beach umbrella ⛱
2. Sunscreen 🧴
3. Food and water 🧺
4. Swimwear 🩱🩳
5. Sun hats 👒
and of course your camera for great pics.  However there’s an additional charge for the extra camera.
