The Secretary General & Party Leader of Gambia Action Party, Hon Musa Ousainou Yali Batchilly has taken the lead in taking the voter registration process. Today, at his address in Latrikunda German, IEC issued his voter's card.

He's urging every patriotic citizen of the Gambia especially the Gambia Action Party's surrogates to get registered as soon as possible and brace for December 04th Election. Equally, he call on the attention of all the supporters of political parties to maintain political tolerance in our quest for this year's election campaign and other subsequent elections in 2022. The Gambia as a nation, has been peaceful and elections free from violence.

We are conscious of the fact that for our continued success towards constituting democratic principles, registration of sustainable development and economic growth as well as realisation; we must be more than committed to the promotion of peace and only peace. In doing so, our goals shall be obvious and realized under a common dynamical system dictated by all the Gambian citizenry.

WHAT IMMINENT THREAT EXISTS IN THE GAMBIA THAT WARRANT THE JUSTIFICATION OF EXTENSION OF THE ECOMIG FORCES

The Gambia Action Party is committed to the security of our nation and we are conscious of the fact that the recent joint communique from the ECOWAS leaders to have extended the mandate of ECOMIG forces in the Gambia for another twelve months with new detachments due in the Gambia from Ivory Coast, Senegal, Togo and Ghana with policing roles. As an institution directly with the people, GAP has taken a preceding view and approached the oval office to provide sufficient justification that warrants the extension of the ECOMIG forces and we were referred to the Minister Of Interior. We believe in the method of dialogue and not insurgent behaviour that will further polarise our nation.

Since the very beginning of GAP, we promised to safeguard the security system of the Gambia and the recent decision made by our government does not only position the nation into fragility or brittleness but created fear and uncertainty surrounding our people and places our sovereignty to a possible adverse outcome that could be perilous in future.

In our recommendations shared with the Minister Of Interior, we urged the government of the Gambia to be committal to the Security Security Reform as no earnest action is made necessary to implement the reform agendas and the current state of the Gambia is not a post conflict scenario that allows military intervention. We called the attention of the government for its failure to ensure parliamentary approval or writ as a body directly representing the public interest. On the equally footing, we recommended for the arrival of security personnel from Ghana, Nigeria and Sierra Leone for being in the commonwealth with the Gambia and practices the same criminal justice act to provide for compensation if some specified cases or risks occur and that differs from the procedures in Senegal, Togo and Ivory Coast.

Their policing mandate order shall be in derivation of the Inspector General of The Gambia Police Force to shape their operations without infringement on the sovereign owners of the Gambia when the service is required. We urged the government to restore the sovereignty and be versatile enough to condemn acts that contravene our peaceful coexistence. We recommended for dialogue with all the relevant stakeholders and the party leaders inclusive on the national discourse and ceaselessly communicate to the people on all the latest developments. The stabilization of the Gambia must be considered by all and sundry as we are conscious of how divisiveness led to the destruction in many parts of Africa, the Gambia will not trend on such trajectory.

We are conscious of the roles played by the ECOMIG forces after the 2016 presidential election and remain grateful for the support as a party and nation, we recommended for their withdrawal tactics which should have been done in the first year of President Barrow in office. We are calling on all the ECOWAS leaders to remain in the service of the sub region and not consolidation of self perpetuating cultures in governance or a perceived standard of higher behaviour for going against the will of the people. The recent political turmoil in Guinea Conakry and Ivory Coast clearly substantiate this claim and evidence based enough for military intervention but why Gambia?

We call on all the political leaders and their surrogates to maintain law and order, protect our jovial relationship as we venture into an election year. History will assess every Gambian based on patriotic efforts geared towards national unity and oneness. In 2021, the future of our nation lies in the hands of sixteen people and must all be responsible enough to avoid a replica of 2016.

We thank the government to have given us the chance and outlined our recommendations that could possibly avert the security threats surrounding our nation. It's time to rethink and rebuild our HOMELAND.

CITIZENS' ALLIANCE PAID COURTESY VISIT TO THE GAMBIA ACTION PARTY'S LEADERSHIP

This afternoon, the Presidential Candidate of the Citizens' Alliance and The Spokeswoman paid a courtesy visit to the GAP leadership.

In his deliberation as the leader of CA, he outlined the reasons and modus operandi of their party and called for more political tolerance and inclusiveness. He assured the rest of CA followers to remain in course and accord respect for political opponents and do away from political wrongdoings, caricatures and derogatory comments. He concluded by thanking his counterpart for the chance given for the discussion made.

Hon. Musa Ousainou Yali Batchilly welcomed the CA's approach in the political spectrum and equally opened our doors for more robust development programs and called for peace, constructive efforts and criticisms geared towards national development initiative undertakings. The inaction of the party leaders will be detrimental to the wellbeing of our nation and their cooperation is needed as we venture into an election year. GAP remains intact with the openness and the zeal to ensure unity and tranquility amongst the political leaders.

COMISSIONER BELGROVE PAID A COURTESY VISIT TO THE GAP LEADERSHIP

The British High Commissioner to the Gambia David Belgrove, paid a courtesy visit to the Gambia Action Party's leadership today.

In an open and honest discussion, the Secretary General and Party Leader of GAP, Hon Musa Ousainou Yali Batchilly has lamented on broad range of issues regarding the current state of affairs of the Gambia. He talked about our party's socio-economic development agendum, the colonial history of our nation, the transitional system, economic development prospects, the draft constitution and GAP's foreign policy system.

Commissioner Belgrove responded with respect, humility and concern about the past and present situations of the Gambia. In his quest for robust diplomatic relations and obligations, he outlined the areas we need to improve as a nation on corporate social responsibility with foreign actors. He thanked the GAP leadership to have availed him the conducive environment for this discussion.

We stand in solidarity with Bobi Wine for being intimidated, punished and harassed with the only crime to emancipate his people from President Museveni's despotic nature and administration that led to the lost of lives and dozens wounded as well as imprisoned.

We stand against oppositions being tortured in the hands of the incumbent presidents in Africa for only exercising their universal rights as citizens. We stand against the African Union for being silent and ignorant towards cruelty to human beings and abuse of power.

We stand against the longitudinal governance process without respect for democracy, rule of law and ethical value towards good governance. Opposition leaders are citizens and must be protected and respected against harmful consequences in Africa.

We call on the African Union to monitor the proceedings in Uganda and address the gross violation of human rights.

We stand against elections being rigged in Africa just to consolidate absolute powers and African Union remains silent and naive.

We call on the youth of Africa to remain strong in their quest for political freedom, development driven agendum and rule of law. The journey is still young and we shall get through the horrors of political hegemony as there is light at the end of every tunnel.

GAP REACTS TO MASSIVE DRUG SEIZURE

The Gambia Action Party is aware of the current state in the country regarding the security threats. Recently, the biggest drug seizure at the port is worth commendable.

We appreciated the service of the Interpol Staff and Drug Law Enforcement Agency in dealing with the interception and call on the government to be more vigilant as well as introduce robust security measures. The GAP led government shall give zero tolerance in drug trafficking and perpetrators will be brought to justice without any regret.

In this final year of President Barrow's led government, we endeavour to recommend security measures to prevent the recurrence, ensure peace and stability and avert crime rates in the Gambia for the benefit of our people and it'll be a continuous process after we resume office in 2022.

In a time when the tragedy strikes the nation, we must come together and eradicate our differences guided by commonalities, hope and put ideas together that will ensure realistic progress and growth. The government must ensure that the Gambia is not turned into drug trafficking zone by cartels as similar practices occurred in our history. Our country must not be seen as drug transit zone by our foreign partners just for the interest of the criminal minority gangs.

We call on the President's attention to be more vigilant and ensure that the confiscated tons of drug be secured by independent security personnel and not other way round to protect, maintain and safeguard the good images of our nation. In the service of the Gambian people, we establish GAP to develop the Gambia in the hands of the sovereign owners of the land.

DISCUSSION ON THE RESUSCITATION OF THE DRAFT CONSTITUTION

The Gambia Action Party, today joined the rest of the Political Parties, Civil Society Organisations and Religious Leaders at Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre in Bijilo to discuss about the resuscitation of the failed draft constitution.

In his statement as the Secretary General and Party Leader of GAP, Hon. Musa Ousainou Yali Batchilly has lamented on patriotism and all inclusive to find the right trajectory for the betterment of the sovereign owners of the Gambia as well as eradicate personal whims and caprices above national interest. In a bid to ensure the successful restoration of the draft, Hon. Batchilly called for compromise amongst the government and the opposition parties.

In his deliberation amongst the distinguished members of the country, he registered his disappointment on the government's failure to amend the fifty two clauses that changed the face of the 1997 constitution. He argued that the most contentious issue that led to the death of the draft constitution was one day in the current constitution; the term limit, the second round voting system (runoff), the age limit and etcetera. Sadly, our resources are wasted at the detriment of political hegemony.

"Our party is ready to compromise and support the passage of the draft constitution but equally cautioned that our constitution must not be subject to a total overhaul, instead we should concentrate more on alterations when deemed necessary as this is the international recognition and best practices USA for example " he said. GAP stands for the people of the Gambia and must equally protect and safeguard the good images of our nation.

During his concluding remarks, he thanked the former President of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria, H.E Goodluck Johnathan to have undertaken an important mission of the lives of the Gambians. On behalf of GAP, he appreciated the initiative undertakings and call on the government as well as the political parties especially the ones with National Assembly representation to support the national discourse.

THE BIOGRAPHY OF THE PARTY LEADER AND SECRETARY GENERAL OF GAP

Hon. Musa Ousainou Yali Batchilly was born to Alhaji Ousainou Yali Batchilly and Aminata Bayo on the 23rd of March, 1972. He was born in Garawol and grew up in Latrikunda German. The father was a tycoon diamond dealer and businessman in other merchandise for almost fifty years and dominated the market in the Sub region and Belgium. He was very instrumental towards financing the projects of the first two administrations of the government.

Musa is the founder of GAP and has penetrated in youth folks because of his hunger and passion for socio-economic development agendum across the country. In his political career, he has been touted as the outspoken leader who holds the government accountable in the most dignified manner. Formerly, he was a cofounder, Foreign and Propaganda Secretary for the opposition Gambia Democratic Congress that ousted the dictatorial and longitudinal regime in 2016 and led to the birth of Democracy. Eventually, he left the party due to financial mismanagement, lack of accountability and transparency.

He is educated both in Western and Islamic Studies in the Gambia at St Therese's Primary and St Augustine High and proceeded to the United States of America in Washington DC at Dunbar High School and later joined universities in United States and Sierra Leone respectively.

Musa’s vision for the development programs and self improvement in a democratic society coupled with investment and justice for humanity is insurmountable. Inherited from the father, Musa was the CEO of the Batchilly & Son International Trading Cooperation mainly dealt with diamond, gold and multi million dollar projects.

He is business centric minded person that can go at any length with investors base on corporate social responsibility as well as strengthen the public private partnership.
