A *HUGE* THANK YOU for watching my channel saying hi, or hanging out, or letting me beat you at the drinking game at Gunbae or buying me (LOTS of) champagne or dancing in the pool or a million other things 😂

Ya girl is taking a break to play some pickleball, speak at conferences and scuba dive.. but Virgin Voyages sailings number 14, 15 and (this number gets really high) is already on the books…. Stay tuned 🤘🏽

THANK YOU for your support! I didn't win the TBEX Short Form Video creator award, but I'm BEYOND proud to have been on the list. Here's why...

This is a (very vulnerable) share about hate, clarity and celebrating milestones…

In my creator journey there has been a LOT of hate, but I was NEVER AFRAID TO STEP UP TO THE CHALLENGE

We must be clear in our WHY to celebrate our milestones REGARDLESS of the noise.

Being a finalist for a TBEX award was in itself a celebration for me! It also caused me to reflect on the badassery it took to get to this milestone…

It reminds me that we must be CONFIDENT in our choices - whether the choices with what we do our lives, what we say, or in this case… the content I want to create and HOW I created it.

I WAS DOING IT ANYWAY

Many people think I have a background in film or photography. I don’t. I watched YouTube videos.

During the pandemic I watched “how-to” YouTube videos and then played around with cameras and started a YouTube channel.

I’ve been told

- I’d never learn to fly a drone

- I shouldn’t fly a drone anyway, it’s too hard and besides - everyone is already doing it, you’re too late

- You can’t make quality videos with just an iPhone

- Your Go Pro setup is amateur

I’ve also been publicly hated on for my “basic camera setup” in which other creators made fun of me.

I also regularly deal with “old school drone pilots” telling me I don’t know (insert what you think I'm about to say here) about drones and to STOP making content because I’m clearly not helping anyone.

I’ll spare the details, but it’s mean.

Yes I have access to or own big cameras, but I normally shoot with a Go Pro or a 360 camera. I like a simple setup.

HATE ALWAYS SUCKS.

Fast forward, people steal my content all the time (and make tons of money off it). I find it in blogs, I find it youtube videos I find my content on all the social platforms with no mention of me.

The point? NOTHING HAS STOPPED ME.

Why?

I was confident in my choice. I wanted to tell stories - capture REAL stories on video and in a way that I was proud of.

I didn't win, but I am beyond proud I was a finalist and I am reminded in this moment of the journey it's taken to get here and THAT itself is a win!

❤️ Fave parts of this hotel…

▪️The Flower Shop rooftop deck had beautiful views of the city and was such a vibe

▪️Downstairs you could find the hidden speakeasy Saint Tuesday with live music and a great cocktail list

▪️The hotel location was SO good. I was literally steps from more than one train line so I could easily get around the city, but tbh, never left the neighborhood because there was so much nearby

▪️The corner king on the top floor had these amazing views of the city

Such a good stay! 😍😍😍 pretty right??

Failure: This photo reminds me I GAVE UP on the first day I started

I’ll never forget where I started as a creator.

I gave up my corporate jobs (at Walmart and Amazon) and my city life in SF and NYC to “become a YouTuber” (everyone asked if I was making “the right choices”)

I was UNCOMFORTABLE on camera. I kept trying to be a perfectionist and it was causing me to get in my head and get in my own way.

IT TOOK ME FIVE HOURS TO FILM A THREE MINUTE YOUTUBE VIDEO.

And I never showed it to anyone, not even my boyfriend, Meatball.

I FAILED.

While I was filming this first video - I decided YOUTUBE IS NOT FOR ME. I can’t do this.

I leaned against the wall and took a photo. It’s been my profile pic ever since and reminds me: DON’T QUIT

“Being a YouTuber is easy”….

In my old city and corporate life, the first thing I was always asked at cocktail parties was "so what do you do for work?"

Now, as a YouTuber, the first thing I get asked is "how many subs do you have?" *cringe*

I feel like everyone focuses in on the “subscriber” number, but I focus on the number of videos it took to get there.

On average it takes me 10-12 hours to produce a video (yes I am my own camera woman, editor, backend SEO, thumbnail photographer, etc). That’s somewhere in the range of 6,000 hours of work or 825 eight-hour work days.

And so yes, the next time I talk to someone and they say to me “well being an influencer is SO easy right?” I’m going to say “Exactly! It requires zero work!”

Champagne flexin’ 💪🏽☀️🌊🥂

👉🏽 A few photos from Virgin Voyages sailing number 11.. yep, I did 3 sailings in May (the first with Mom, second with Mari The Queen of Trips and this latest one with my sister and friends!)

▪️Moet and sunshine in Bimini Bahamas

▪️The food is SO good on this ship, found some new faves with a seared salmon dish at Test Kitchen and truffles on a carbonara pasta at Extra Virgin

▪️This was the MOST calm sailing I’ve ever experienced in terms of amazing weather and seas, it made for an epic Scarlet Night pool party

▪️It was my first time going to Turks and Caicos (a bucket list destination for me!) and it was as beautiful as I expected

🤫Wanna hear a secret? I hate cruising. But I love Virgin Voyages.

I just see it as an experience that’s as fun as dining and partying in the places I used to live (NYC, SF), but at 1/100 (ok fine, 1/1000 LOL) of the price and without all the fuss of taxis, pretentious night clubs and blah blah blah.. (the list is long)

Good times! I’m taking a break this month to play pickleball, but I’ll SEA ya on board in July!

Tomorrow I set sail on my third Virgin Voyages sailing for the month. As I pack my luggage (or rather, re-pack the same luggage), I found myself scrolling through all the photos I took from my latest sailing...

A lot of people tell me "it's so cool that people recognize you from your channel" - but what they don't get to experience is what I get to hear.

When people tell me "I'm here because of you" or "I'm having THE TIME OF MY LIFE" or "I NEEDED this vacation and YOU inspired me to do it" - I am reminded why I create.

No one sees the countless hours it takes me to research and be thoughtful about the content I plan to create, the time it takes to get all the shots (no I do NOT have a camera person) and the endless hours of editing on my laptop (no I do NOT have an editor).

I am a one woman show.

And when it's 3am and I finally close my laptop after a long edit and prep my cameras for a 7am wake up to grab some sunrise shots... I look back on photos like these ones and I remember that I've helped someone to create special memories.

We all need to travel more.. so get up, get out, and GO TRAVEL! I say it in EVERY SINGLE VIDEO! 🤘🏽

▪️Camp Indie! And then it’s time to REALLY PARRRRTAY at an adult summer camp during un-conference Camp Indie with Travis and my friends. I am SO SO excited to speak on the main stage and I know so many of you have emailed me your interest about it, and tbh, I’ll be serving up FOMO so good it hurts. Sorry not sorry.

▪️And after I’ve “rested” with these trips it’s time to get back to “work” because I’ll be partying up on Virgin Voyages A LOT in July with MEATBALL! *a slow evil laugh begins…

When there are moments I can use what I've learned as a creator and a drone pilot to help a non profit doing amazing work for the community like IMIND Mental Health tell their story... it's always worth every moment behind the camera and in the edit.

If I’m honest… my knees hurt from dancing with The Queen of Trips on Virgin Voyages this past week

A few highlights…
▪️The weather at Bimini Bahamas was SO good and we danced in the pool during the Float On Party

▪️I tried a lot of new dishes on this sailing, a few faves were from Razzle Dazzle - beet pierogies, watermelon with frozen berries, salmon bowl and friiiiied chicken. No, I did not lose weight on this trip …

▪️We danced. We danced in The Manor Nightclub, at the pajama party under the stars, and we danced at zumba, at line dancing class and .. in the pool during the sail away party and at Scarlet Night. To say “my knees are giving me two middle fingers” is an understatement.

A huge THANK YOU to SO MANY PEOPLE that came up to say hi to me. I appreciate you watching my youtube channel!

Flew my drone in Salt Lake City with 2 badass drone pilots and one asked if I was going to get out of the car to fly.

My answer? No.

1. standing outside the car means everyone walking by will ask what you’re doing (this is my experience) and i don’t want to spend my battery time answering questions or having people (sometimes nicely, sometimes NOT nicely) test me about alllllll the homework i’ve done to make sure i can fly in that place

2. VLOS? yep. keep it in sight right out the front window.

but tbh- comfort is key for me when im flying. if you fly one battery, no biggie. but i’m used to flying for hours at a time.

Can anyone relate? Not relate? So curious..
