Wasn’t convinced initially by the live album with two studio tracks, however it is so good from start to finish definitely recommend!

Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick

The ultimate parody of a concept album, it blends prog rock with folk elements mixed with a Pythonesque humour. Though I will say the second side can’t compare with the first.

The Cheerful Insanity of Giles, Giles and Fripp

The origins of King Crimson lie in this quirky, quaint, and thoroughly English piece of psychedelic pop. Whilst I don’t care for the spoken words parts it proves an interesting listen.

The Rolling Stones - Hackney Diamonds

Finally getting around to listening to this and I absolutely adore it! A fantastic album full of energy and shows the vintage rockers still have a lot to say musically.

Wishbone Ash - Argus

A true masterpiece blending prog, blues, and folk together. Sometimes gentle and pastoral, rocking and energetic at others it showcases such variety and musicianship.

It was my favourite album as a child and reminds me of car journeys with my dad.

Boygenius - The Rest

A short, sweet, and to the point EP that is simply more of what you expect from the indie supergroup. A softly melancholic set of songs that blend folk, electronic, and indie with beautiful harmonies.

A truly joyous and classic album from of my favourite bands. It still holds up a is a magical journey from start to finish, and that Roger Dean artwork!

Hawkwind - Warrior on the Edge of Time

A spacey, trippy, proggy journey. By no means perfect but it’s raw edges give it a charm that more pristine works cannot achieve.

Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of the Worlds

A truly iconic album full of spectacular performances and of course that narration from the legendary Richard Burton.

Arc of Life - Don’t Look Down

The second album from the side project of current Yes members, which while heavily influenced by them does have a slightly different vibe.

It is a good/solid album with some great moments, particularly enjoyed the first and last tracks. Also have to mention Sherwood’ bass tone which is incredible and stands out.

Bellowhead - Matachin

Full of jaunty memorable tunes their second album is a delight from start to finish, so rarely can you hear the joy music so clearly from a studio album. So glad I got the opportunity to hear them live!

Steven Wilson - The Harmony Codex

Falling somewhere between TTB and TFB it walks an impossible tightrope and will ultimately disappoint fans who want a return to The Raven.

Personally I’ve really enjoyed it and enjoy that each of his albums has a distinct character. It isn’t without fault but there’s certainly a lot to enjoy and I was never bored.

Can’t wait to properly delve into Steven Wilson’s new album, love these deluxe CD editions!

On first listen it sounds like it’s trying to reconcile TFB with his earlier releases. A lot to enjoy and I’ll post my thoughts when I’ve properly gone through it.

A wonderful album full of mischief, melancholy, and quintessentially English imagery. One of the great opening lines of all time.

Yes - The Yes Album

A light hearted, fantastical, and eclectic album that broke new ground for Yes and launched their career to new heights. Whilst it will never be my favourite it contains so many memorable tracks and moments.

Radiohead - Kid A

First listen for me. A dark and cerebral album that whilst very downbeat has some incredible moments of serenity. I’ll get around to Amnesiac shortly.

Steely Dan - Aja

First ever listen for me to one of their albums. Saw this recommended a lot and it is a very well produced album full of great musicianship.

Really enjoyed it very funky and groovy. Though it won’t place in my favourite albums of all time I get the hype now.

Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms

Whilst I’ve heard most of the tracks before this is my first full listen to the album. A classic for a reason it is full of superbly memorable tracks that stay with you long after hearing.

Richard Wright - Wet Dream

Another first listen for me. If you ever wanted to know how important Wright was to Pink Floyd’s sound then just listen to this. It is just beautiful and I feel like I’ve been missing out not hearing it until now.

Radiohead - OK Computer

My first real listen to any of their albums. An often dark, well produced, cerebral piece full of moments that shimmer. I really enjoyed it and can see why people place it as a prog album. What should I check out by them next?

The Yardbirds - Roger the Engineer

First listen to the band and album for me. I found it a mixed bag but it has some great performances and I really enjoyed the bluesy and more rock oriented tracks.

Personally the 60s pop sound does little for me so I wasn’t that pushed on a few of the tracks but overall the album grew on me.

Blind Faith - Blind Faith

Another first listen for me. A classic album from a very short lived group. I like it best when it invoke the blues rock I adored from Cream, a stellar album with amazing performances.

Definitely one I should have checked out long ago. I’m actively trying to fill in gaps in my collection these days (not that I’ll ever finish). What album/band do you wish you’d heard sooner?

Sons of Apollo - Psychotic Symphony

Revisiting this debut from a prog supergroup. It is a solid release that showcases their superb musical talent, I particularly enjoyed God of the Sun and Coming Home.

However, it’s not an album that lived long in my memory. It is good, but not great.

What we’re your thoughts on this one? Is their follow up worth a listen?

A fantastic moody, jazzy, and rocking piece of prog. I always saw it as braiding the gap between Wetton era KC and Asia. A sadly short lived group but they produced some great music!

On a side note I always think people overlook John Wetton as a bassist because he was such a great frontman.

Yes - Fly from Here

First listen to this album for me and I really enjoyed it. The titular suite is very much in the spirit of classic yes and has some great moments, though it lacks a bit of harshness.

What are your thoughts on this? I know some people can’t stand Yes without Jon Anderson but I will defend Drama in particular as a classic album!

King Crimson - Islands

For me this is their most underrated/overlooked album. It marks the end of Sinfield’s tenure as lyricist and its title track is just heartbreaking and breathtaking.

Whilst I wouldn’t say it was their best album it is one I return to a lot. What are your thoughts on this one?

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here

Another true masterpiece of an album. Shine On… has got to be one of the greatest openings to any record, the synths, the solo and those four notes.

I constantly change on what my favourite album of theirs is, but this is always a strong contender! What about you?

Journey - Frontiers

First full listen for me, a big fan of Escape but I’d never got round to this one. Really enjoyed it, some great tracks but I would say it is a front loaded album.

First listen for me, after trying their 4th album a lot of you recommended it. It’s a good album with some stellar tracks, but it takes a dip in the middle for me.
