I just wanted to come on and say "Hi" 👋 and I apologize it has been way too long since I last posted on here.

I started this page to share health and wellness tips that I've learned over the past few years and the changes I have made in my own life, but I have let self doubt get in the way.

I am not an influencer, a nutritionist, or have any creditionals, so I began thinking that what I have to share doesn't have any value. I also let a limiting belief of a fear of judgement get in the way.

I have come to realize that every single person has value and it is my obligation as a human being to share anything I have learned if it can help even one other person in any way.

So there will be many posts to come, along with new stories of this new phase of my life and all that is happening.

Welcome to anyone that is new here, and thank you to everyone that has chosen to be in the space with me. I'm grateful to be here with you all! ❤️ Follow me on IG for even more content. 😀

I don't really eat much processed foods anymore, but I am a sucker for tortilla chips. 😂 So if I purchase anything with corn or flour, or even flour for making homemade pasta, I do make sure that it is organic. It is especially important with fruits and vegetables, but that way I can lower any possible exposure to Glyphosate.

Our haul of farm fresh eggs today!! This is actually only part of them, we eat A LOT of eggs. 🤣

Every other week we buy around 90 eggs from a local farm. We wish our HOA would allow us to have chickens 🤷‍♀️. Some are nest eggs unwashed (yes, we leave them sitting out on the counter) and some have been washed that we keep in the fridge, but have not been pasteurized.

There ere are multiple reasons we now buy our eggs locally 🐓

1) Higher Nutritional Quality: Farm-purchased eggs, particularly those from pasture-raised or free-range hens, tend to have higher levels of essential nutrients such as vitamins A, E, and D, as well as omega-3 fatty acids, compared to store-bought eggs from factory-farmed hens.

2) Lower Risk of Contaminants: Eggs from small-scale farms often have a lower risk of contamination with pathogens like Salmonella because the hens are typically raised in cleaner and less crowded conditions with better hygiene practices.

3) Diverse Diet for Hens: Hens raised on small farms often have access to a more diverse diet, including insects, greens, and seeds, which can result in eggs with a richer nutritional profile compared to eggs from hens fed a monotonous diet of corn or soy.

4) Reduced Hormone and Antibiotic Use: Many small-scale egg producers prioritize natural and sustainable farming practices, which may include avoiding the use of hormones or antibiotics in their hens. This reduces the risk of consuming residues of these substances in the eggs.

5) Supports Local Economy and Sustainable Agriculture: Buying eggs from local farms supports the local economy and encourages sustainable agricultural practices. It allows consumers to directly connect with the producers, ensuring transparency and accountability in food production practices.

Go support a local farm today!! 🚜

Today let's reflect on the power of gratitude. It's more than just a polite 'thank you ' - it's a force that can shift your perspective! Experiencing hard times? 💪 A small dose of gratitude can illuminate the positives that are often clouded by our worries. Remember, a grateful heart is a magnet for miracle.

⭐Have you ever heard of the Dirty Dozen, Clean 15 list? Let's talk pesticides...

🙋I had never seen seen this list until recently and even though it is from March of 2023, it's definitely worth taking a look at with respect to the amount of pesticides that are on and in the produce we consume.

👉The EWG, Environmental Working Group, uses tests performed by the EPA and FDA to detect pesticides in 46 fruits and vegetable, to compile a list according to the cleanest and the worst. Here are some takeaways from the report;

🤢The Dirty Dozen-
➡More than 90 percent of samples of strawberries, apples, cherries, spinach, nectarines and grapes tested positive for residues of two or more pesticides.
➡A total of 210 pesticides were found on Dirty Dozen items.
➡All of the produce on the Dirty Dozen had at least one sample with at least 13 different pesticides — and some had as many as as many as 23.

😀The Clean 15-
➡Almost 65 percent of Clean Fifteen fruit and vegetable samples had no detectable pesticide residues.
➡Avocados and sweet corn were the cleanest produce – less than 2 percent of samples showed any detectable pesticides.
➡Just over 10 percent of Clean Fifteen fruit and vegetable samples had residues of two or more pesticides.

😍For my family, I only buy organic for any berries and also anything that we eat the skin or peel on it. I do not necessarily buy organic for ones we remove the peel for, such as avocados or melons. unless there is a special price for the organic.

😢Many pesticides used here in the US have been banned in the EU, which science shows they are toxic to our health and to wildlife.

⭐Since pesticides are known to cause potential health problems, people can use this guide from the EWG to make an informed decision when buying produce. I'm looking forward to seeing the list for 2024!

❤️KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!!

Day 27: The Magic Mirror

You can spend the rest of your life running around trying to beat the outside world into the shape you want, chasing one problem after another trying to fix them, complaining about situations or other people, and never succeed in living your life to the fullest and realizing all of your dreams. But when you make the magic of gratitude your way of life, everything in the world around you magically changes – just like that. Your world magically changes because you changed, so what you are attracting changed too.

Day 25: Cue The Magic

When you begin a new day, and someone says, “Good morning,” you’re being given a magic cue to be grateful for the good morning. If you come across someone who is really happy, it’s your magic cue to be grateful for happiness. And if you overhear another person saying thank you, anywhere at anytime, it’s your magic cue to say thank you!

Day 22: Before Your Very Eyes

'no matter how big your desires seem to be, you can receive them through gratitude. Even more than that, gratitude will bring a joy and happiness for life that you’ve never felt before, and that is truly priceless.'
