This is so ironic when all of those ignorant people shouting on the street "Free Palestine from Israel!"
Are you sure you want Israel to completely Free Gaza from Israel?
Think again!
Lets shed more light on this claim that Israel is cutting off water to Gaza?
There are two deep-well pumping stations in Israel, on the northern border with Gaza. These pumping stations provide water for Israeli villages in the area and also to about 200,000 people who live in the very northern parts of Gaza. Remember this as we go along please!
The Palestinian Authority (West Bank) and Hamas (Gaza) hate each other more than they hate Israel, especially since 15 years ago, when Hamas drove the PA out of Gaza in a very bloody conflict (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fatah%E2%80%93Hamas_conflict).
The Hamas has a very interesting and unique business model: Israel and the PA will keep the people of Gaza alive with food, water, medical treatments, electricity, etc. while Hamas will take international aid that pours in from the rest of the world and use that money for their own benefit (https://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4543634,00.html) in foreign bank accounts, salaries to Hamas employees and guerrillas, buying weapons, building tunnels into Israel and so forth.
The agreement between all the parties is that the PA will pay Israel to provide people in Gaza with electricity, medical treatment and some water from those two pumping stations. But, because the PA and Hamas are now in a new (non-violent) conflict, the PA has stopped paying Israel for the electricity.
Without payment from the PA for the electricity, Israel has reduced the electricity that it now gives Gaza for free (remember Gaza having a complete independence), to a bare minimum. After quite a few weeks of this going on, things are starting to fall apart in Gaza and there is a serious humanitarian crisis.
This crisis also includes the fact that the sewer system in northern Gaza isn’t working any more and the sewage is being pumped out to the sea or dumped in the same area (the Hanoun stream) where those two pumps are located.
Because the sewer is being dumped in that same area as the pumps, the whole aquifer is now tainted with bacteria, and so the Israeli ministry of health ordered the two pumps to be immediately shut down. Israeli farmers and Palestinians in northern Gaza have no water. On the Israeli side, this can be fixed but on the Palestinian side, there is no one to fix the problem.
To solve the problem for the future, the European Union has pledged $500 million to completely rebuild the Gaza water system so that it will be based on solar energy and will not be affected by future electric outages. Once again - Hamas wins. Someone else is paying for the problems they cause.
P.S. This is also likely the reason for Hamas’ marches and demonstrations near the border with Israel. A basic rule of thumb is that when Hamas wants money or attention, they do something against Israel and hope for a major conflict so they can get international aid.
So before you say Free Gaza from Israel, you should think what would really happen when Gaza will be free from Israel!
I may say Free Israel from Gaza or more correctly Free Gaza from Hamas!!!!
Have a great night,
With multi-million-dollar land deals, luxury villas and black market fuel from Egypt, Gaza's rulers made billions while the rest of the population struggled with 38-percent poverty and 40-percent unemployment.
