Really jazzed about our show Saturday night on Gabriola Island which will also include performances by The Gabriola Micro-Synth Orchestra and DJ Ron Sakolsky who I hear is going to dive into some funky Afro dance beats. In February 2020 I had the unbelievable and inexplicable experience of visiting Abuna Yemata Guh, a 5th Century church carved into the Gheralta mountains in Tigray Ethiopia. Inexplicable because never in my wildest dreams did I think such a visit would ever transpire in my life. I am not an orthodox Christian nor have I ever been truly inspired to live a life that only Christ would condone and approve of. Yet here I was, with my soon to be Ethiopian wife, visiting this monumental den of sacredness and spiritual continuity. How could it be? Surely there are more worthy people than me namely, any one of the billions of Christian faithful who feel the deep power and enduring love of Christ over a multi-God believer and pagan animist. I knew right then and there that I was going to write a book about believing vs not believing and that I was going to reference the Christian theologist Blaise Pascal and his well known euphemism ‘Pascal’s Wager’ as my model. My long poem book titled ‘The Wager’ which is separated into 3 cantos (www.nightforestpress.com) is my unanswerable quest for comprehension into the unknown and our indescribable sacredness into the heart of all sacredness that is both outside and in. www.jimydawn.ca
