Sometimes, we have to remove our loupes to see the big picture.

Life is more important than teeth. When a person finally comes to your office, I want to encourage mental health practices. So that if depression strikes, hopefully they are able to better manage it and care for their teeth and the work that was done.

Caring for more than just teeth!

Let's be real, this is a concern!

I've been receiving messages asking if it's worth the price tag. It certainly was worth it for me because dentistry is more than just a way to pay the bills. I absolutely love all aspects of dentistry and I have found ways to allow me to get into the career I love and not be completely financially burdened.

My journey to dentistry was a fun ride!

Not only was I the youngest person in my dental class, graduating at 24 years old, I was the only person of color.

As you already know, we are celebrating black history month which is something new to me because I only moved to the U.S. in my teens.

With the difficulties I have personally faced here due to my skin color, I see why this is celebrated!

I celebrate my dark skin, I appreciate the sacrifices of others of all races have made for people who look like me to be allowed to function and succeed and I look forward to blazing my own path as well! ✊🏽

Even if it's a tiny bit, I enjoy the rays of the sun.

Thank you for hanging out with me! My name is Charlie and unlike most dentists, I am the only dentist in my family and actually the only one with a doctorate and of a handful to go to college. I was blessed to have a hard working mother who laid down the foundation for me to be successful.

I was raised in a small village and I still enjoy the peace and quiet that I get from being close to nature. I am a total softy despite commonly being described as a bad ass. I enjoy creating, miss riding motorcycles so I get my fix from driving a manual WRX, cooking and making a mess with my babies and husband.

There are so many terrifying pictures out there with aggressive preparations for veneers. In some cases, no preparation is needed (granted it is more challenging) but the goal of veneers is to have the preparation be be in enamel.

Why? Bonding to enamel is a lot better than bonding to dentin. Better bond = better strength (pass me a vesper martini!).

Planning the case right requires a great wax up (digital or conventional) and preparation guides. Most importantly discussing with the patient the 'cycle of restorations' and that dental work does not last forever.
