President Kiir Assents to Financial and Appropriation Acts, Officially Enacts 2024-2025 Fiscal Year Budget
Juba, 25th November 2024 โ President Salva Kiir Mayardit has signed into law the Financial and Appropriation Acts for the 2024-2025 fiscal year, formally enacting the national budget and setting the stage for its implementation.
The laws, which outline government spending and financial priorities, were presented to the President by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Jemma Nunu Kumba, following their approval by the National Parliament. The signing marks a pivotal step toward the operationalization of the fiscal yearโs budget.
Speaking on the development, Hon. Michael Ayuen Johnson, Chairperson of the Specialized Committee on Finance and Planning, emphasized that attention now shifts to the Ministry of Finance and Planning, which is tasked with overseeing the disbursement of funds to government departments and agencies.
The approved budget, amounting to 4.2 trillion South Sudanese Pounds (SSP), focuses on critical sectors, including agriculture, infrastructure, health, education, humanitarian assistance, and social welfare. These allocations aim to address the nationโs pressing development needs and improve service delivery across the country.
This milestone underscores the governmentโs commitment to ensuring transparency and efficiency in public resource management while addressing priority areas to drive socio-economic growth.
