This cassette contains raw, alternate versions of three of the songs from CITTAâ â93, mixed from different sources than the ones used on the CD/LP. Includes full version of âEternally Now,â which was faded out on the main release. đ€

Murahachibu is a glammy, Stones-y, revved up proto-punk band formed in Kyoto in 1969. Lead guitarist Fujio Yamaguchi became a member of Les Rallizes DĂ©nudĂ©s in the early 1980s, and his distinctive playing can be heard on our recent Rallizes release YaneUra Oct. â80. At one time, they also called themselves Hadaka No Rallizes, which of course is the Japanese name for Les Rallizes DĂ©nudĂ©s. Confused? More on that later!
These two archival releases showcase their true, raw sound much more accurately than the well-known âLive Murahachibuâ from 1973, since that album was recorded after the departure of second guitarist Tetsu Asada from the lineup. According to vocalist Chahbo, âMurahachibu started and ended with Tetsuâ.
𧥠IKYMI: Sachiko Kanenobuâs Fork in the Road is now available on vinyl from Temporal Drift. Pressed in Japan, this import LP is available in very limited quantities from our Bandcamp page. đ in bio.
Sachiko Kanenobu is a pioneering female singer-songwriter from Japan, best known for her timeless 1972 masterpiece MISORA, produced by Haruomi Hosono. Fork in the Road is mainly composed of songs written by Kanenobu in the late â70s and early â80s, after she had taken a long break from music while she raised her two children.
This album is a refresh and a rework of recordings originally produced at the tail end of the 20th century by Kanenobuâs old friend Koichi Matsuda.  This new version of the album is produced by Makoto Kubota (Les Rallizes DĂ©nudĂ©s, Sunset Gang), who breathes a new life into the simple original recordings with ideas and contributions from Kubota as well as members of Kikagaku Moyo, Steve Gunn, Carwyn Ellis, Daichi Ito (Haruomi Hosono, SAKEROCK), and percussionist Asa-Chang. Hereâs a strange but true story of the time when two bands named Hadaka No Rallizes (aka Les Rallizes DĂ©nudĂ©s) played at the same festival, as recounted by Makoto Kubota (). This story and more will be included in the liner notes to the Rallizes upcoming release, YaneUra Oct. â80.
âI think this happened around September 1970. Somehow there were two Rallizes booked for an event at the Maruyama Ongaku-Do in Kyoto. It was a few days after Iâd come back from my first trip to the States. I finished playing my set with the âOriginal Rallizesâ (lol) without incident, and I put away my instruments and was getting ready to leave. I vividly remember hearing the pretty blues tones of Fujio Yamaguchiâs guitar coming from the stage. What Mizutani told me when I came back from my 7-months long trip, was that there was a crazy booking and he had take the âotherâ Rallizes (lol) to taskâŠâI guess weâre MurahachibuâŠâ they said. [âmurahachibuâ means ostracism]. Anyway, this was a time when the Rallizes were playing around with different members, before the band could solidify its lineup for its second phase. It seemed that a little before this incident, Mizutani and Fujio had played as the Rallizes at some festival. They were playing some Stones covers apparently, and Chahbo (Murahachibuâs vocalist), who was standing on stage with them, had decided that he would call his band the Rallizes⊠Such an outlandish storyâŠbut knowing that, in this photo, he looks a bit defeated from being reprimanded. Well, from Mizutaniâs point of view, of course heâd be furious. A bit of funky rock history for you.â

In 2000 Hiroshi Yoshimura came to the U.S., visiting cities along the West Coast to observe and study how public art and transportation were being implemented. He focused on wayfinding tools like visual signs and music or audio cues that were being used to help citizens navigate the city. He took down his observations in a visual diary, which gives us an idea of how his mind worked - always thinking in terms of not only music and sounds, but visually as well. Â
Here are Hiroshiâs entries for Los Angeles and Portland, seen as part of his retrospective exhibition âAmbience of Sound, Sound of Ambienceâ in Kamakura, 2023.

Why âKyoto red?â â well, thereâs a story there. Summer in Kyoto is hot and humid, but the sunsets over the mountains and city skyline are intensely beautiful, with hues of red/pink/blue. There are also many exquisite temples around the city, including Kiyomizu-dera on Mount Otowa, with brightly painted reds that are striking against a bright blue Summer sky. These memories and experiences are why we chose this color. â©ïž
There are several photographs by Akira Uji included in the forthcoming release Les Rallizes DĂ©nudĂ©s â YaneUra Oct. â80. This image looks to be from a different part of the set, as evident in Mizutaniâs use of his Gibson SG rather than the Fender Telecaster, which he is playing in the cover photo. Mizutani can also be seen using the Sennheiser 441 microphone to activate some of his trademark guitar noise. Fujio Yamaguchi looks on with intense and focused eyes. This pair was really something special.

In 1980, Les Rallizes DĂ©nudĂ©s welcomed guitarist Fujio Yamaguchi (The Dynamites, Murahachibu, Teardrops) to its fold. The unconventional pairing of inimitable Rallizes frontman Mizutani with Fujioâs unrestrained, bluesier styles ushered in a new era for the band that excited fans old and new. This unique arrangement lasted less than a year, but the lineup would leave behind a long-lasting impact among Rallizes fans that can still be felt to this day.
Among the seven gigs played by the Fujio-era lineup, one particular show stood out from the rest. YaneUra Oct. â80 contains the blistering performance that took place on October 29, 1980 at the original Yaneura live house in Shibuya, Tokyo. This night, one of a series of gigs played at Yaneura by this lineup, has always been considered one of the certifiable classics among the live tapes that circulated among Rallizes aficionados. Newly mixed and mastered from the best available sources by Rallizes member Makoto Kubota, YaneUra Oct. â80 is the long-awaited, first-ever official release of this show.

The Last One Musique, in cooperation with SLOGAN and Temporal Drift, is pleased to announce the release of the book, The Last One (PoĂ©sies : Les Rallizes DĂ©nudĂ©s). While the lyrics of Les Rallizes DĂ©nudĂ©s varied from performance to performance, this book focuses on the songs from the three 1991 release albums, â67-â69 STUDIO et LIVE, MIZUTANI, and â77 LIVE, as well as THE OZ TAPES. Referencing the creative notes left behind by Takashi Mizutani, this is a collection of poems as a literary work compiling the original lyrics of Les Rallizes DĂ©nudĂ©s. The 248-page hardcover book is housed in a custom slipcase and includes a CD (approx. 20 min.) of the until-now unreleased song âHibiscus Flower,â recorded in 1969 and processed by Takashi Mizutani in the late 1980s, and remastered by Makoto Kubota for its first release. The poems, published in three languages (Japanese, English, and French), are accompanied by photographs taken by photographer Kyo Nakamura, an original member of the band. The book also includes a commentary by Yoshihiko Ichida, editor of the collection, and an essay by Soshi Suzuki. The binding is by Akira Uji, a former stage director and artistic director for Les Rallizes DĂ©nudĂ©s. This film was first shown in June at the Empty Bottle in Chicago, IL as part of the ENTER THE MIRROR weekend, which included a photo show by Rallizes photographer Takehiko Nakafuji. BAUS '93 marks the first time this footage has been released. Newly mixed and mastered by Makoto Kubota, BAUS â93 contains the storied comeback performance from Baus Theater in Kichijoji, Tokyo, which took place on February 13, 1993, in what was their first live appearance in five years.
