Inspired by the sitcom Golden Girls, Golden Good Girls by Brigitte Winter is a re-playable shared-GM TTRPG for 3-5 players about a tight-knit group of senior shelter animals living their best lives together at the local shelter, Shady Pines.

The Feline Rescue Associate (FRA) is a cat rescue organization operating out of foster homes in the Baltimore, Maryland Metro area. They provide rescue, medical care, rehabilitation, adoption, and TNR (trap, neuter, return) for street cats in need, serving a vulnerable cat population who otherwise would have no advocates. FRA has had some high-cost medical cases recently and could use some extra love this holiday season.

A huge thank you to the playtesters who gave Golden Good Girls a try at last night! It was a joy watching you build your sitcom world, fill it with zany shelter animals living their best lives together, and do stupid human tricks for candy, stickers, and glow-in-the-dark dino treats. We can’t wait to print this wacky game and send it to our backers in the spring.

All five Scryptids convened in Morristown, NJ this past weekend for Metatopia, a playtesting convention for gaming industry professionals. We spent three days playing, creating, and dreaming with old friends and new collaborators. playtested Golden Good Girls, her collaborative TTRPG about aging shelter animals living their best lives 🐩, playtested Assemblage, their upcoming punk eco-fantasy TTRPG 🌱, and and all playtested new projects that ranged from regency romance💘 to hard sci fi 🚀 to a restorative justice exploration set in Wonderland ♟️. We also toasted the launch of Against the Gloom, Dustin’s new game about pirate rockstars in the underworld! 🎸 It was such an important weekend to immerse ourselves in community and imagining new possibilities, and we are feeling exhausted and grateful. ❤️

Against the Gloom is a dice-based role-playlist-building game about music’s furious resistance to despair. What if our heroes exchanged their battle axes for Stratocasters? And what if lyrics and harmony were actual magic? Against the Gloom is a fantasy TTRPG of melodic mayhem that asks this and more! It’s about the joy and power of music, chosen family, and building community in the face of the void.

In Against the Gloom, players take on the roles of punk pirate troubadours sailing across a vast and dangerous void—the Gloom—aboard a ramshackle ship propelled by the power of song. Use your character’s sonic powers to push back the Gloom as it seeks to obliterate any pockets of community that dare to resist it. Build your story one gig at a time.

Maryland friends, come hang out with Scryptid Games this weekend!

On Friday, 9/27, we’ll be at , a sci fi/fantasy literary convention at the Rockville Hilton. At 4pm, and will lead a workshop to help writers transform their imaginary worlds into short TTRPGs. Then, at 5pm, Dustin and Brigitte will speak on a panel called “Is Your Story Actually a Game?”

And on Saturday, 9/28, and Sunday, 9/29, we’ll be at in the Waverly neighborhood of Baltimore. We’ll have a Scryptid Games booth near the 32nd St. Stage, and Brigitte will facilitate a giant game of For the Queen with on Sunday at 2pm at
