We talk a little bit about Irish folklore on the most recent episode.

It's time for another Irish ghost story. Have you heard the legend of the Pooka?

The POOKA (puca), is feared like no other fairy is feared in Ireland. This terrifying, shape shifting fairy often appears as a horse with yellowed eyes after nightfall creating harmful mischief. The Pooka roams the Irish countryside tearing down fences, terrorizing livestock and destroying crops. In County Down it takes the form of a tiny goblin demanding his share of the crops, hence the phrase a “pooka share”. In County Laois he is a large hairy bogeyman and in Waterford and Wexford a giant menacing eagle. But Roscommon has the unfortunate notoriety of having the pooka appear as a mangy black goat with curled horns. The Pooka can talk as well and has been none to appear on door steps late at night calling out people’s names. He is looking for a companion to take to assist in his mischievous deeds. If you deny him his pleasure he will haunt and vandalize your property.
