We're in that awkward place where we've announced the rebrand but it's not happening until September... We're taking some easy baby steps starting with adding the new name to the sidebar and site name so that Google can start to associate offbeat bride with offbeat wed. The SEO risks here are very very frightening....

So of course the big question folks want to know what a rebrand is... what's changing? The answer? VERY LITTLE. We're not changing what we're doing, or how we do it. We're not changing the design of the website or the kind of content we produce. We're changing the logo, but even that is a minimal change... the colors are the same, but we're switching from a triangular flag to a square flag, and to a different font.

Our domain URL and social media handles will be changing, but that will hopefully be a seamless process that most readers won't even notice. All old URLs will redirect, and (Meta corporate gods willing) the social media switches will be smooth. Fingers crossed.

It's all happening in September, once we have our legal and technical to-dos taken care of. Here's to a smooth transition for all of us!

Looks like we'll be pulling the trigger on the rebrand from Offbeat Bride to Offbeat Wed this September. We've got our trademarks and copyrights filed, and the web developer and system administrator will be doing some heavy lifting behind the scenes to make the shift hopefully as seamless as possible! Rebranding a 16yo web property ain't easy... but it's happening!!

The process of rebranding a 17-year-old property ain't for the weak... there's trademark and copywrite stuff to talk about with my lawyer, domain stuff to talk about with the sysadmins, web stuff to talk about with the developer. But at least we got our placeholder logo from the designer! We're aiming to fully flip the switch by the end of 2022... hopefully sooner.
