Exploring can be risky.

Tried a new coffee shop today (just to get out of my comfort zone) and I didn't like it. It became crowded with students from the nearby school, and I couldn't concentrate on my work. The coffee was so-so. But on the positive side, they offered to lend me an extension wire because the tables with outlets were already taken.

When the wifi got disconnected, I took it as a sign to transfer to another place. And so I did...

Cons of exploring today: I spent more on gas and another coffee, which meant I also doubled my caffeine intake in just an hour. 🥴 Not to mention the lost productivity time.

Pros: I satisfied my curiosity about that place, and now I know that I won't be productive there. So it's crossed out from my list.

So yes, exploring can be risky. You can either lose or gain something. But either way, you'll end up wiser. And as they say, you'll never know until you try. So might as well just do it. 🙂

What is the most exotic coffee you've ever made/tasted?

Me: Vietnamese egg coffee 🥚☕

Made this myself because I wanted to experiment. The sweetened condensed milk made it taste good, but I still couldn't forget the fact that I was drinking raw egg yolk. 😂

Everytime you are rejected, you are redirected to something better.

This was what happened to me today. I went to my go-to coffee shop to get some work done, but it was full. So I was forced to look for another place.

Hence, Deskanso Cafe... It's actually my first time here! ☕

They have a much bigger place, and it's conducive to working, meeting, studying, or just hanging out.

I ordered an iced Spanish latte and it reminded me of my favorite drink in Starbucks - white chocolate mocha with breve. 😋

So I guess I have a newfound workspace! I'll definitely come back here.

PS. My only hesitation is the parking. There's a small gravel parking lot beside the establishment but it looks like it's always full. And there's a puddle of mud at the center.

What healthy/productive habits have you started recently?

I started exercising again this month. I did home workouts consistently in the 1st quarter this year, but I got derailed sometime in the 2nd quarter. Usually, I would wait for the new year before working out again. But this time I'm not waiting that long. I decided to start anew this July.

As they say, you don't need a new year to make a change. All you need is a Monday. 💪

Looking for the Best Dirty Matcha Latte in Tacloban City 👌

Dirty matcha latte is basically matcha latte (green tea + milk) with an espresso shot. It's also called matcha espresso fusion in some coffee shops.

So I've tried these 3 versions so far, and here's my unsolicited opinion. (Disclaimer: I'm not a coffee expert, so this is just based on my personal preferences. If symptoms persist, consult your barista.) 😂

☑️ Cortado Coffee

- The item is not on their menu but when I asked the staff, he immediately understood what I was looking for. So he suggested that I order the normal matcha latte and just add an espresso shot. And so I did.

- The taste? It was delicious for me! It's not that sweet, which is what I like, and the caffeine kick was still there.

☑ Good Alibi Cafe + Bar

- They offered this drink on their FB page but it's not yet officially on their menu (though I think it should be).

- Delicious as well. Not that sweet. But espresso-wise, I think Cortado had a stronger shot (if I remember correctly).

☑ Figaro

- The drink is also not on their menu, so as usual, I just ordered match latte and added an espresso shot.

- Tasted good. But the base (matcha latte) was a little too sweet for me.

So that's it for now...

Remember, the best tasting coffee (or any drink for that matter) is the one that tastes best for YOU. We all have our own preferences. So if a drink/recipe is good enough for you, then go ahead and enjoy it.

What is your favorite coffee from a fast food chain?

Mine is definitely McDo's brewed coffee. And yes I know that the large size is refillable! 😉 I also used to spend some productive time at a McCafe branch before the pandemic.

Tried another version of dirty matcha latte in the city. And it was good... A good alibi to visit Tacloban City Convention Center.

PS. The place also looked great as a bar and hang out place but not really as a workspace.
