Another Modern Nerd Review from
Since the end of Game of Thrones, audiences and studios alike have been looking for a series to fill the void. Sh**un is the latest contender to try to take up that challenge. This remake of the 1980’s show has captivated audiences and is often regarded as a medieval Japanese Game of Thrones.  The quality of craftsmen and attention to details is evident. Lead actor and producer Hiroyuki Sanada (John Wick: Part 4, The Wolverine, Lost) has masterfully piloted this series avoiding the tired White - Savior trope seen in similar projects. If you’re able to get past a heavily subtitled introduction, Sh**un will offer you a beautifully tragic tale of political intrigue with a splash of romance. Catch up on the first season on FX or Hulu.

REVIEW- Halo the series is best viewed with low expectations and casual knowledge of the Halo game series. The show chooses to jettison its source material and create its own story from the recognizable IP. The second season builds on the foundation of its predecessor. But it still struggles to connect with its audience when it comes to the characters and storylines outside of Master Chief and his Spartans. In spite of these shortcomings, the series boasts plenty of visually exciting action. Pablo Schreiber (The Wire, Orange is the New Black, American Gods) has made the role of Master Chief, John 117, his own. His physical transformation and preparation for the role is impressive. Schreiber’s camaraderie with his fellow Spartans is the shining light in an otherwise dreary show. The full second season of Halo is now streaming on Paramount+.
