An adventure is over ⛵️🌏
Or as we say in Norwegian: Snipp, snapp, snute - så var eventyret ute.

479 days later. 18 920 nautical miles later. Half a world later.

We have now hugged each other goodbye in the marina in Gold Coast. Jørgen and Filip are now exploring Japan, Marius is in Melbourne, and Jonas just picked up a camper van to explore the east coast of Australia 🌏.

It’s definitely sad to end the trip, but at the same time it feels right. We really feel like we ended it on a high note, and we’re now ready for new adventures.

We have in total sailed 18 920 nautical miles, which converts to 35 000 km. And earth’s circumference is 40 000 km. Which means we’ve almost sailed one entire round around the world. Insane 🤯.

And all this while still remaining good friends and having a blast while doing it 🥹. We’re so happy and grateful have made our dreams reality, and so thankful to have had all of you guys with us along the way. Thank you for following us and letting us share our trip with you 🫶🏽

This will be our last regular post for a long while, but during the next weeks we will continue to post the remaining vlogs from our trip. Hope you enjoy them, and for now: take care and goodbye 👋🏽🥺❤️

WE MADE IT! 🥹
During the past 1 year and 4 months out at sea, we’ve sailed 18 915 nautical miles. And we have spent 125 whole days sailing ⛵️💨. These miles and these days have taken us all the way from Tønsberg in Norway to Gold Coast in Australia 🇦🇺. Through the world’s two largest oceans 🌊. It’s pretty insane to say that we have sailed more than half way around the world 🌏🤯. Our adventure ends here in a weeks time, and looking back we’re pretty proud of what we’ve accomplished, and that this idea and dream actually became a reality 🥹.

Tanna - Bundaberg ⛵️💨
We now sailed over 1000 nautical miles during 9 days from Tanna in Vanuatu to Bundaberg in Australia. We’ve now sailed from Norway to Australia 🇦🇺! That feels pretty sick 😳.

The passage we now had started a little rough 🙃. Our dinghy dropped halfway down in the water due to the attachment point loosening… This of course happened during 2-3 meter waves from the front, but thankfully we managed to fix the situation, and got away from it with just a few bruises 🙃.

The rest of the passage can be concluded like this: slow and little wind, but also dolphins and sunsets 🥹.

After more than 6 months (!) on board, Ludvik has now left us and continues his travels on land 🚶🏽‍♂️🎒. And after 2 months on board, Audun flies back home to Norway ✈️.

Both of these guys are childhood friends of ours, and it’s so nice to have good friends on board our floating home around the world. Thanks for the good times, laughs and adventures 🥰🫶🏽.

WE’RE ENDING THE TRIP 😢
Yes, you read that correctly. In a little over a month’s time, when we get to Australia, we are going to sell our boat and end this adventure.

A few months ago, we started talking about selling the boat when we get to Australia. There are many reasons for this, and the biggest benefit of them all is that the Australian boat market is better than the Norwegian one.

One important thing to mention is that there is absolutely no bad vibes between any of us! This is a mutual decision that we all agree on. To put it very simply: it’s just that we’re four guys with different plans and dreams in life, and that means that the best thing to do now is sell the boat. We also feel that it’s a great timing to end the trip, as we really end it on a high note after almost 1,5 incredible years 🥹.

As we sell the boat, we have different plans for the future. Jørgen, Filip and Marius are flying back to Norway by the end of this year, working until next summer, then starting different studies at home 📚. Jonas is changing out the boat with a backpack and starts a backpacking trip on land in Asia. Marius and Jonas are also really eager to buy their own boats some time, so don’t be surprised if we start posting here again with other boats in the future! 😌

But in the meantime: we still are not finished with the trip! We’re going to continue posting until we leave the boat, so stay tuned for what’s to come!

We must also mention that we really appreciate all of you guys following us and supporting our adventure! 🥹

All the best, the Off Course boys 🫶🏽

Our stop in Tonga was a short one 🇹🇴. After a few days we decided just to head straight for Fiji (instead of exploring the Tongan islands). That’s the beauty of travelling like we do - there’s no flight to catch. If we want to stay a place for a longer time - we do. If we want to leave - we do! So now we’re very soon on Fiji - ready to haul out the boat and get some work done! 🇫🇯

Niue - it has been a blast 🫶🏽
A small island we initially were going to sail past, suddenly became a place filled with memories, new adventures and new friendships 🥹.

This place inhabits some of the sweetest and most hospitable people we’ve met during our whole trip halfway around the world. Everyone waves at each other on the streets, says hi and greets you wherever you go. And even if you’re just in need to do your laundry, you suddenly end up befriending the laundry lady and come back for dinners, drinks and good conversations time and time again 🥹🥰.

At the store the cashier pays for you if you haven’t had time to withdraw cash yet, and at the bar you get invited to sit with some random people that you end up spending the rest of the night with 🫂🍻. If we’d had the time - we’d for sure stayed longer. And not to talk about the nature!! Going to have to make an entire post for that ⛰️🌴🪸
Niue - hope to see you again some day 🫶🏽

Bye bye girls 🥺👋🏼.
After three months on board, Siri and Amanda have now packed their bags and flown back to Norway ✈️. We’ve had the pleasure to hang out with these two in Panama, Galápagos, over the Pacific crossing, and on all the islands we’ve visited here in French Polynesia. It’s really been great, and it has brought many many laughters, funny stories and great times 🥹. This time would definitely not have been close to the same without you, girls, and we are already missing you 🥺. Wish you all the best back home, see you soon 🤞🏼😘

One year later 🥹
Exactly one year ago today, we started our journey! 17th of July 2022 we left the harbor in our home city Tønsberg and waved goodbye to family and friends 👋🏽. Not knowing when we’d see them again, and not knowing what this adventure would bring us. We can confidently say that the adventure has brought us endless memories and many many new friendships and experiences! 🥰 Over 14.000 nautical miles later, we’re still enjoying every single day out here, and we’re very excited for what the future has to bring 😍 Thank you all for following our journey 🥹

Tetamanu Village 🏘
In this little village on the southern pass of Fakarava we were told that only 20 people live permanently! What they earn money from is mostly diving tourism, where people come and sleep in the bungalows right on the shoreline 🛖. When we went snorkelling in the pass, we put our dinghy in the village, went out and snorkelled and drifted all the way back 🤿. Also, this village is home to the first church ever built in the Tuamotus, dating from 1874 😌. The village is situated right on top of a beautiful and colourful coral reef with hundreds of fish and sharks and big Napoleon fish swimming in the surface at all times 🪸🐠🦈. A really beautiful place 😍.

The past almost two weeks we’ve been anchored up in Fakarava 🏝️. This is a large atoll here in the Tuamotu islands, and the days have been spent hanging out with friends and fellow sailors on the beach, diving, snorkeling, partying on the boat and just enjoying life 🥹. We’ve had a great time, and can’t wait to show you some of our underwater footage veeery soon 🦈🫣.

Finally: atolls! 🤩
We sailed to Raroia, the atoll that Thor Heyerdahl and the Kon Tiki raft arrived at in 1947, after having drifted over 100 days from Peru. Being Norwegians, we had to visit this place. Pretty cool to walk in the footsteps of this man (who’s from Larvik, very close to where we grew up) and expedition we’ve heard so much about 😌.

Also - these atolls are where we’re going to spend the next several weeks. They are old volcanoes that arose from the earth, and during millions and millions of years, coral has formed around it, then the volcano has sunk again. What’s left in the end is a huge ring of coral reef - called an atoll. So basically we’re going to spend our coming weeks inside these ring shaped islands, which are also home to some of the worlds largest population of sharks and other marine life 🦈🐠🪸. We really can’t wait to explore these places!

We did it! 🤩
After 21 days, 7 hours and 3049 nautical miles sailed, we’ve finally reached French Polynesia! We’re anchored up on the island Hiva Oa in Marquesas 🏝️.

This passage has been and will be our longest during our whole sailing adventure 😳. We haven’t seen one boat on the radar or plotter, we went out of fresh fruit and vegetables after one week, and we’ve only seen ocean, sun, moon, stars and each others faces the past three weeks straight. It’s safe to say we were pretty excited when we first saw land this morning! 🥹

We haven’t had any big problems or damages/injuries with ourselves or the boat, which is really really good 🥹. The moral on board has been fairly high, considering it’s a three week passage 😅. Now we’re going to change out movies and series with snorkeling and diving 🤿. Reading books and knitting will be switched out with hikes in the mountains ⛰️. And we will finally consume fresh fruit and vegetables again 🤤.

The anchor was just dropped and it’s as stuck as ever ⚓️. And as the sailors we are, it’s now time for a long awaited anchor dram and a few beers to celebrate. Cheers! 🍻

Thanks for having us, Galápagos 🥰🦎🦈🐢🤿 Now, the show must go on ⛵️💨.

We have now FILLED the boat up with fruit and vegetables. We met a farmer that invited us to take as much fruit as we wanted from his farm, so we went wild 😍.

Apart from fruit and veggies, we have also made water, filled diesel, cleaned and made the boat ready, and checked out of Galápagos. We’re now ready to go!

This upcoming passage is from the Galápagos Islands to Marquesas in French Polynesia. That’s a distance of 3000 nautical miles, and it’s going to be the longest passage during our whole circumnavigation! 🤯 It’ll probably take us a little more than 3 weeks, so now we’ve downloaded all there is to watch and listen to 😅.

We’re most probably going to be completely offline and away from social media during the passage, so try not to miss us too much 😚

Alright, now we lift the anchor and set sail. See you on the other side! 🫡

Our first passage on the Pacific Ocean is done, and went very well 🥰. We had more wind than we feared we would have, and the days flew by. Now we cannot wait to experience all the wildlife and amazing nature these islands have to offer! 😍

The first few days of our Pacific Ocean journey looked something like this 🥹🎣🌊🌅🧼

Today is unfortunately our last day with internet on the ocean (at least for now). Our Starlink will disconnect since our subscription doesn’t cover oceans, and we can’t afford the 5000USD they want us to pay to stay connected 🙄. Hopefully we’ll find a solution soon, but as of now this means we’re back to finding SIM cards and Internet cafés on land when we get to shore.

We’re about half way to Galapagos today, and if you want to follow our track, click the link in our bio! You can also send us mails to [email protected] to keep us company now that we go without internet connection 🥹

APRIL FOOLS!
The post we posted yesterday about us being rejected from Panama was only a JOKE 🤪 We’re most definitely still going to go through the Panama Canal now in April/May, and we haven’t changed any plans 😘

These days we’re in Cartagena, Colombia, working on the boat to get it in ship shape for the pacific crossing. We’re also enjoying a good meal at a restaurant and other stuff this country has to offer 🥰
