I have worked as a journalist for more than a decade, with experience in print, digital and broadcast media. Recently I have specialised in crime reporting, and I'm told I have a particular knack for getting people talking, before turning their insights into podcasts, well-crafted features and breaking news stories. I excel at bringing crimes and major news events to life through attention to deta

il and finding unique, untold stories. I am skilled at building rapport with the everyman, often connecting with them during the most challenging times of their lives and sharing their stories respectfully and accurately. My particular interests are in cold cases, domestic violence, women's issues and social justice.

In a career of drop-ya-jaw on the floor stories, this is one of the most scintillating and explosive true crime yarns I've come across.
The murder of a cop by a crazed DV offender who should never have been out on bail, the alleged cover-up that followed, and the brave women who are breaking ranks to make sure the truth is heard.
Super proud to have had a (small) hand in bringing it to screen after a year's hard work by my colleague, Denham Hitchcock; the very talented Max Polley on camera and some of the best editors/ post production teams in the country.
Watch it 8.40pm tonight or on catch-up.

The final episode of my chart-topping podcast launches today. You’ll be taken inside the investigation as detectives raced to catch the Bali bombers and Robert Paul Long — the perpetrator behind the tragic Childers Backpacker fire which killed 15 youths.
Smart-as-a-tack criminal behaviourist Steve Longford explains how he worked with police to get inside criminals’ minds and help the bad guys get caught before more lives were lost.

One of the most fascinating stories I’ve had the privilege to work on was interviewing the psychiatrist who treated Jessica Camilleri — both before and after she beheaded her mother in one of the most shocking murders to rock Australia.
What’s fascinating is he said there were no “red flags” she was going to do such a thing when she left his office.
Jessica was happy for the psychiatrist Dr Richard Furst to talk about her case publicly.

All murders are tragic but every few years there's a crime that sees Australia collectively grieve the loss and injustice of a particular attack. ABC worker Jill Meagher was one.
Now the esteemed forensic psychologist who interviewed her attacker reveals never-heard-before insights into what made the man commit such a heinous act. Podcast, story and video here:

As we approach the 25th anniversary of the Port Arthur massacre I’m honoured to share the voice of one of the survivors.
Lynne Beavis was on off-duty nurse visiting the tourist site with her sister when Bryant opened fire. She courageously put her own safety on the line to help save the injured and dying.
While she has learned to live and find joy in her life the scars from such significant trauma live on. She is truly an inspiration and living proof of the strength of the human spirit.

Each year when the leaves start to turn from green to autumnal yellows and browns, Lynne Beavis knows: “it’s happening again”.

Vonne McGlynn was an elderly woman, living alone in the Adelaide suburbs. To her neighbour, Angelika Gavare, McGlynn was the perfect victim. Someone she could murder, and thereby take control of her home and assets -- hopefully without anyone suspecting a thing.
So while Gavare's two toddlers slept next door, the young mother broke into the pensioner's home, bludgeoned her to death and then used her children's prams to dispose of the body parts.
Do any of us really know our neighbours?

Over a series of months I spoke to dozens of prison officers from around the nation. Their stories blew me away so much I knew they needed to be told.
My new podcast On Guard covers what it’s like to work each day working alongside notorious offenders such as Port Arthur massacre perpetrator Martin Bryant or coming face-to-face with Anita Cobby’s killers — and the toll this takes on the officers as they struggle with the psychological burden of spending each day surrounded by darkness.
