I was lucky my mom knew about these warning signs when they first presented in 1988. Make sure you’re aware of them in case you see a loved one exhibiting them, especially during this time of COVID-19. Type 1 diabetics can suffer more significant symptoms of the virus than the rest of the population. Many thanks to for sending out this image to its followers. Stay safe and be well, my friends!

Here we go, friends! The presale for my memoir, Relentless: From National Champion to Physically Disabled Activist, is now underway! The memoir is set for release on July 28.

The book covers a lot of topics on my journey from national champion in the high school hammer to criminal defense attorney and civil rights activist to now being a disabled person. A big part of the book covers my struggles and frustrations with having T1D for the last 32+ years. I'm hoping that by sharing my highs and lows (small pun intended) with the disease, I can be a source of support, encouragement, and cautionary tale for other diabetics. I hope you'll give it a read!

Also, stay tuned next week for a new podcast episode! I'll be interviewing the talented and innovative Dr. Victor Montori of the Mayo Clinic and the Patient Revolution. Dr. Montori's book, Why We Revolt, is a wonderful call to arms for patients fed up with an often times cold and uncaring industrial healthcare system. It's a real honor to be speaking with Dr. Montori, and I can't wait for you to hear our conversation.

I hope you're all doing well and trying your best to take care of yourselves. Have a great weekend!
