WHY I SPENT ONLY 500K DURING OUR WEDDING

When we decided to get married, I made it a priority to prepare for marriage rather than just the wedding.

I understood that a wedding lasts for just a day while marriage lasts forever.

Thank God my wife shared the same mentality and embraced it wholeheartedly.

I told her the only thing I would ensure is her happiness. If she is happy, then I am satisfied.

So, I didn't bother to hire the best wedding planner, the best photographer, or to buy the best wedding gown.
I didn't worry about getting the best cars.

If I tell you that I didn't spend up to 500,000 Naira in cash to get things done, you might not believe it.

We did everything within our means and our budget and avoided borrowing.

While others were borrowing money for their weddings, I went back home with a fat account balance.

I did an engagement.
I did an introduction.
I did the white wedding.
I did a reception.

People ate at my wedding.
We took pictures.
There was a DJ.
There was cake.
We did it inside a decorated hall.
We drove in a beautiful cars.
We slept in a hotel.
We did everything you can think of.

For example:
- Our DJ charged us only 30K.
- We spent just around 20K on phography.
- We didn't go for high luxury cars.

This is not a call against comfort or luxury but a call to understand your capacity and act according to your pocket while you prepare for marriage, not just the wedding.

Instead of focusing all our strength on just the wedding, we planned for our marriage.

We attended marriage counseling.
We read books on marriage.
We visited couples who are enjoying their marriages and learned from them.

We prepared for marriage, not just the wedding.

Dear intending couples, be wise with your finances.

Whatever you do, make sure you do it within your budget and capacity.

You will realize that immediately after the reception, everyone will disappear, leaving you with your spouse.

What you have left is what you will take home.

Nobody has ever won an award for the best wedding.

No matter how unique and luxurious your wedding is today, someone will have a better wedding ceremony tomorrow.

The life after the wedding is more important than the wedding day.

Please, prepare for marriage, not just the wedding.

A wedding is for a day while marriage is forever.

Remember, use wisdom.

Ivory Coast, Burkina, Cameroon… Why is the internet cut in these countries?

Essential for the continent's connectivity, several submarine fiber optic cables have been victims of major incidents causing disruptions.
Out of service… This Thursday, March 14, many countries in West and Central Africa are almost completely without internet. Major incidents at the WACS, SAT-3 and MainOne submarine fiber optic cables, the main providers of Internet access to sub-Saharan countries, are at the origin of the disruption, reports the organization specializing in cybersecurity and internet governance NetBlocks. According to global internet monitor, the outage initially started in Ivory Coast, Liberia, Benin and Ghana before affecting eight other countries in sub-Saharan Africa – Burkina Faso, Togo, Cameroon, Gabon, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria and even Lesotho – where the networks which provide internet service via submarine cables have been affected.
“Internet provision has been disrupted across the national territory since the morning of March 14, 2024,” underlines the Association of mobile telephone concession operators in Cameroon. If the organization claims to be unaware of the reasons for the incident at the submarine fiber optic cables, it reiterates the commitment of its technical teams to restore connectivity as soon as possible....

Just imagine if this happens in Cameroon 🇨🇲.. What would you say? 🤔 Presidency owing over 340 million Naira in electricity bills. The electricity company threatened to cut power to the Presidency.. Tinubu himself had to go and pay the bills personally. 🤦🏾‍♂️

Meanwhile BBC news reports that The state-run Electricity Company of (ECG) on Thursday 29 February 2024, cut power supplies to the parliament over a debt of 23 million Ghanaian cedi ($1.8M USD; £1.4M).

The outage interrupted a debate on the president's State of the Nation speech.

A video shared by local media showed MPs in the dimly lit chamber chanting: "Dumsor, dumsor", which means power outage in the local Akan language.

Local media reported that a back-up power generator restored power to the chamber a few minutes later.

But other parts of the parliament building remained without power for most of the day before supplies were restored.
