People are upset that this participant of the University Challenge show was wearing what looked like Palestinian flag colours and that her team had brought along an octopus which they claim is an act of anti-Semitism.
The BBC says that this episode was filmed in March and has no relation to recent world events.
"We are aware of a number of inaccurate claims being made online in relation to last night’s episode of University Challenge and we utterly condemn the abuse that has been posted and shared.
For the avoidance of doubt, this episode was filmed in March. The mascot is one of many chosen by the team during the course of the series and is one of their favourite animals.
The jacket worn by one of the contestants was navy blue, orange, pink and green, bought from a High Street retailer. It has no connection to any flag."

The men in the fabricated Hamas phone call shared by Israel as 'evidence' that the hospital bombing was caused by a misfired rocket mention that a rocket was launched from a cemetery from behind the hospital. Here is a satellite photo showing the proximity of the cemetery (green pin) and the hospital (red pin).
In the video which shows the bomb dropping on the hospital, it can be clearly seen that the bomb was dropped from the air due to its force and speed. It does not look like a rocket fired from close proximity.
