One day like this, 74 years ago, two of the most iconic Tejano artists were born, As incredible as it may sound, Jimmy Gonzalez and Joe Lopez y Grupo Mazz were born on the same day, 30 minutes apart, at the same hospital in Brownsville, Texas on August 28, 1950.

Both Tejano legends played a pivotal role by introducing the keyboard sound to Tejano music scene which was influenced by the disco sound of the era in the 70's. Jimmy G. as he's affectionately referred to, co-founded Grupo Mazz in 1978 alongside Joe Lopez.

The dynamo duo rapidly gained recognition for their groundbreaking approach to Tejano music. They skillfully merged traditional Tejano sounds with elements of pop, rock, and R&B, crafting a distinctive and engaging style that deeply connected with audiences.

Congratulations to living legend, Tejano icon Little Joe Hernandez for his recent induction into the Field of Stars commemorative flags in El Paso. At the same time, June 12th was declared as Little Joe Hernandez and Fred Sandoval Day. Sandoval is the Executive Director of the National Latino Behavioral Health Association. Both are active advocates for raising awareness about Latino mental health and encouraging the community to seek help and access vital health resources.

A severe tornado struck Temple, Texas Wednesday, May 22nd. Please keep everyone, including Little Joe Y La Familia, in your prayers. They are doing well but currently have no electricity and no phone access, only text messages. We will keep you updated as we learn more about this serious situation.
