Hon James Deng Wal Achien was Instructed by the President to appoint the Deputy Press Secretary: A Rebuttal to the Hired Media Mercenaries

I came across several malicious articles articulated against the personality of hardworking Executive Director Cde James Deng Wal by handfuls of hired social media mercenaries. Last week, the Executive Director in the Office of President Cde James Deng Wal was instructed by his boss to appoint a long serving and experienced journalist Ajou Mareng as a Deputy Press Secretary. Upon seeing Ajou's appointment letter in the social media, the former press secretary in the Office of former First Vice President Cde Agel Ring and the former rebel spokesman Chol Duang rushed to the social media , criticizing Cde James Deng Wal for appointing the Deputy Press Secretary. Agel Ring and Chol Duang claimed in their multiple articles that Deng Wal acted outside his powers and that the appointment of Deputy Press Secretary is an indirect way of conspiring against the newly appointed Press Secretary.

Without wasting time, I will not respond to all the nonsense raised against Cde Deng Wal but I will respond to the few misleading words that I believed might have played a great role in misleading the social media community. Cde Deng issued the appointment letter of Deputy Press Secretary on directives from his boss, the President of the Republic. So he didn't act outside his powers as claimed by the hired social media mercenaries. He has no intention of conspiring or sabotaging the newly appointed Press Secretary. The position of Assistant Press Secretary is existing position in the public service act thou it has been vacant. Take example from our neighboring countries. The post of Assistant Press Secretary is also existing in the presidencies of so many countries i.e Kenya etc.

The allegation of undermining the Chief Administrator is nonsense and holds no water. As a disciplined and experienced Administrator, Cde James Deng was just informing the Chief Administrator of the duties and credentials of the appointed Deputy Press Secretary. He didn't direct the Chief Administrator as claimed by his social media detractors. The former Malong's spokesman Chol Duang claimed that Cde Deng Wal holds a diploma in Supply and Chain Management which is totally misleading. Cde James Deng Wal holds a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from one of the Recognized Universities in East Africa.

To all the Wau Association Development Unity (WADU) sons and daughter in Maiwut County and worldwide.

We are hereby informing all of you that there are some people who are trying hard to bring those who have killed Wau Community members when Riek Machar Teny attacked us in Maiwut town and all the areas of WADU and we were rescued by His Excellency Salva Kiir Mayardit the President of the Republic of South Sudan.

These people who were sent by Riek Machar Teny at that time to kill our people were Dak Duop Bichiok, some officers and soldiers based in Jekow and Turu. Any son or daughter of WADU working with Dak Duop Bichiok now and in the future is an enemy to our Wau community.

We are warning those who want to bring Dak Duop Bichiok closer to Ciewau to be careful.

We are hearing Dak Duop Bichiok sent someone to Maiwut town who came with Paul Puok Kang to confuse us. If you know yourself and you are in Maiwut Town be careful.

A friend who stands with you during your difficult time is the friend you need to bring closer all the time.

Our sons and daughters who are in Juba please distant yourselves from Dak Duop Bichiok or do not come to Maiwut ever again.

First female commissioner passes on at 77

An SPLA (now SSPDF) veteran and first female commissioner in South Sudan has passed on in the Ugandan capital, Kampala.
Mary Biba passed away on Tuesday morning. Doctor’s report shows she succumbed to kidney failure at age of 77.

“She passed this morning around 9 o’clock in Kampala. We are trying to organize how to transport the body to Yambio for burial,” her Son Charles Kisanga, told Eye Radio.

Mama Biba served as the first female commissioner of Yambio during the liberation struggle from 1999 to 2005.
Afterward, she was nominated by the then first Vice President of Sudan as a member of parliament in the Western Equatoria State Legislative Assembly under the leadership of the Late Governor Samuel Abu John.

However, later during the transitional period of CPA, she was appointed Western Equatoria State Advisor on Gender and HIV/AIDS. Mama Biba had been reportedly instrumental in creating the Girls’ Education Task Force to increase literacy among girls in Yambio County and had been at the forefront of efforts to prevent children from being recruited into the rebel army
