Deacon Johnny Hollman was Atlanta’s George Floyd. Some might say his case is even more disturbing because it happened at the hands of a Black officer, in a city led by a Black Mayor, a Black Police Chief, and a Black District Attorney.
We cannot, and will not, standby and allow this injustice to go unaddressed in our city. The Black Mecca has a duty to be an example of what it means to value Black lives.
As of today, it has been more than 1 year, 2 months, 4 days, 10 hours, and 7+ minutes since Deacon Johnny Hollman’s family has been left without justice.
We created What About The Deacon to shed light on this case and tell the true story of what happened to Deacon Johnny Hollman. My only hope is that when you watch this documentary, you’ll be inspired to join the family in their fight for justice. I hope it moves you—whether through anger, sadness, or frustration—into action.
