Lofn was known as a protector of forbidden . welcome! She also loved games and gambling. A common practice is to deal her in any card game as a player.

Lofn was revered as a gentle and loving . Her name means permission. Though she doesn't feature in a lot of norse mythology tales, her name was used often in poetry and keening for the word .

For example, did you know that she and Freya, the infamous huntress goddess, are most likely the same goddess? F***g's powers as a völva also included shapeshifting into falcons.

She was also considered a shaman and a vital part of the warband party. This is why the wives of warband parties held the lofty title of veleda. These would strategize and help predict the outcome of raids and war efforts.

Did you know that Apollo and his sister, Artemis' arrows are associated with the spread of disease in Greek myth? Apollo was also prayed to under the epithet "Apollo Smintheus" which translates to "mouse god." The Greeks made the connection between the spread of disease and mice. Apollo was often appealed to in order to stop the rapid spread of infection.

There are many controversies on the origin of Easter. Most scholars agree that it comes from the pagan celebration of Ostara, a holiday both honoring the spring goddess and the equinox. But did you know that the resurrection story of Easter actually has its origins it the resurrection of Inanna, the ancient Sumerian goddess of s*x and power? Inanna's descent into the underworld is the first recorded resurrection story. In fact, Inanna herself would later become the goddess Aphrodite and Venus in Greek and Roman cultures. The site of Jesus' tomb, where the Church of the Holy Sepulchre was built, was originally the site of an ancient temple for Aphrodite.
