to when and Rob King got to build and share space with youth at Youth Services Center (YSC) a detention center in DC.

We spoke on education, building skills to be successful, and systemic barriers that need to be removed.

The school to prison pipeline isn’t a mythical thing, it’s a real carceral continuum that needs to be disrupted.

Our youth need…
✅early intervention and prevention
✅ explicit SEL skill development
✅ conflict resolution
✅ self-management strategies
✅ social problem solving skills
✅ evidence-based solutions (again, that explicitly teach skills, not just theoretical concepts)

Be sure to listen to the podcast episode 18 with Byron and Rob as they discuss these issues and more. Enjoy wherever you listen to podcasts.
