Hello friends,

I hope this message finds you well.

Writing this isn't easy, but it's important to share the news with our wonderful community. In 2020, Friend Club came to life as a dream project, a venture close to my heart since my teenage years. From the very beginning, Rhys has been an integral part of this journey, standing by my side and helping steer the ship. In the past 3 and a half years, we've had an incredible ride, releasing 115 different titles. It's been a mix of highs, lows, and everything in between, but throughout it all, we've strived to keep the spirit light and fun.

As 2023 unfolded, it brought about a season of change and transition for both Rhys and me. One of these changes directly impacted our ability to maintain the same storage space we had previously. As a result, we've made the difficult decision to put Friend Club to sleep for the foreseeable future. This doesn't mean it's the end; rather, it's a temporary pause as we navigate these changes.

To adapt to our current circumstances, we're faced with the task of selling off our inventory. To make this process as accessible as possible, we've decided to offer everything on our Bandcamp page for $1. We've also included the option for you to contribute more if you choose to, as the label has accrued a significant amount of debt throughout its existence.

Your support has been the lifeblood of Friend Club, and we want to express our deepest gratitude to each and every one of you who has been a part of this journey, whether as an artist, collaborator, or supporter.

To our bands: Thank you so much for entrusting us with your music. It has been an honor and a privilege to work with such talented and passionate artists. Your contributions have enriched the Friend Club community, and we're grateful for the music we've been able to share together.

Special thanks: A huge shoutout to Rhys, Jamie, Taylin, Daniel, and Nyquil for your invaluable contributions in steering this ship along the way. Your dedication and hard work have left an indelible mark on Friend Club.

The story here is long and winding. from TLVS and I have been friends since college. Well I should say we were friends from college who lost touch for almost two decades. When FCR was starting out we reconnected over a shared love of physical media (he runs the fantastic ). The idea of doing a TLVS release was floated pretty early on.

When dropped Wavelengths it was uncovered that Nathan and are also friends. It seemed only logical to find a way to do something together .The three of us (plus and ) started discussing this split over a year ago and here we are today.

Rhys did this crazy glitched out cover and while I haven't seen the finished tapes yet he's working something up with them as well.

I love seeing my friends collaborate and this release is super special because of how it's all come together.

Hey friends. We dropped this tape earlier this month and they sold out day of. Now we're back with 50 more. Get one while you can. "When The Laptop Breaks (Live in RVA)"

Thotcrime began as an aside between two internet friends. Collaborating via Discord and adding new members along the way the group wholeheartedly embraced the idea of "cybergrind," both sonically and in spirit. The underground success of their 2020 debut "Onyourcomputer" led them to sign with Prosthetic Records, who released their followup "D1G1T4L_DR1FT" in 2022. While on their first tour in 2023 in Richmond, Virginia, their laptop had a hiccup and refused to work. What could have, and has, stopped many bands from performing, they took as a challenge to themselves to go full grindcore and perform with nothing but their wits, a cranked amp, and some loud drums.

Distro announcement. We have a very limited number of Men as Trees "Weltschmerz & Sea of Ice Songs" records available as distro from .corrupt.records This gorgeous double LP package is the first time on vinyl for these songs.

We and are the exclusive places to obtain this beautiful record in North America. This band is the precursor to and we're loved by many.

This record has been long overdue. Men As Trees was a screamo outfit from Michigan, USA, which blended elements of post-rock perfectly into their sound. Formed by brothers Andrew & Jason Kallicragas and Frank Tedeschi in 2003, the band played a solid number of shows in the US as well as a Euro tour in 2009, before they disbanded. Two years later all band members re-united under the name of Locktender.

“Weltschmerz” was MAT’s 2008 and probably most prominent album which had only been physically released on CD and cassette back in the day. In 2023 it has finally gotten re-mastered in order to give it a proper vinyl release. But that is not all since we also find re-done versions of the last two songs Men As Trees have written and recorded: “Wreckage” which appeared on their 2009 split EP with Single State of Man and “Discovery” from their 2010 split with Dying In Motion, Le Pré Où Je Suis Mort and Dolcim. What a treat to finally have Weltschmerz on vinyl!

FCR109: Pack Sounds "Real Gusto"

Surprise, we've added PACK SOUNDS to our family. Sometimes a band just needs to have fun and rock out. That's exactly what Pack Sounds are. They've got Real Gusto for sure. If beer/beard punk that you just wanna sing along to us your jam then this one is for you

But on a serious note, this release is super special to me because these folks have played in bands I've admired for years. Getting back into music in 2014 you couldn't avoid the two powerhouses of screamo that were Locktender and The Reptilian. Heck I want to the Musée Rodin last month just so I could fully experience Locktender's album inspired by the same. Pack Sounds first album "Bold Statements" established this band as being special for me as well. Now their new release just takes their style and sounds and bumps it up a notch.

When I approached Andrew about signing Jagalchi he mentioned he had this Pack Sounds album too. I didn't think this was something we were ready for but he encouraged us to do it and now here we are.

Go jam this one in the garage or basement and learn the words and get ready to see Pack Sounds real soon. They've got REAL GUSTO.

It's no secret is one of the most prolific artists on the Friend Club label. The evolution of Spaceships into the post-gaze legends you hear on "Ruins" starts with their debut "I Am A Storm At Sea". The thing about & is how prolific they've been through the years. Bands like Doctor Doctor, Dad Jokes, and Chin Up! Are only the tip of the ice berg in the catalogue. With a long resumé that includes bands like Locktender, The Reptilian, Men as Trees, Pack Sounds, Flannel Matadors, the Tumbleweed Jumpers, Dad Jokes, and many, many, many more, JAGALCHI combines all the disparate threads of their other projects into a single monumental vision that is as gorgeous as it is staggering.

Instrumental narratives weave through the spectrum of human experience, adding elements of indie rock, Midwest emo, punk, funk, ska, and neo-classical. Call it post rock if you want. But you can call them the newest member of the Friend Club.

WHO: TLVS is a Virginia based trio who have been working together for the better part of a decade.

WHAT: TLVS describes their output as "vocal-free rock music." They do this to escape Explosions In The Sky references by lazy journalists.

WHEN: Look for TLVS' Friend Club debut - a split with label vets Powerviolet - to drop this fall.

HOW: TLVS have been buzzing around the Friend Club camp for the past few years. In what could be chalked up to serendipitous timing, recording sessions, release schedules, and plain ol' good fortune have aligned.
